will driving without power steering pump mess anything up?
hey guys pretty simple questions im not very well veresed in power steering and i know a lot of the civics come without it but they have (i believe) manual racks. if my car was set up for power steering and i took the pump off will that harm anything in the long run?
my power steering pump recently went out, so i removed the belt, and about 2 weeks later i got leaks coming from the power steering rack. I'm not saying this was the cause of it, but i would really like to get an answer to this question as well as i thought about the same thing. BUMP
I ran mine without the belt connected for a few days and it made my PS tank leak all over my shock tower. I think over time it wears the parts out faster.
plus itll be harder to steer. youll have to be turning not only the wheels but youll be manually moving the pistons inside the rack back and forth instead of the hydro power doing it for you

I have never had power steering with my Wagon.
It is a power rack with everything taken of it.
My buddy looped his power steering lines to keep a bit of fluid in it and his is alot easier to steer than mine... but he also has a DA with 17"s
