Default Timing belt wont go on cam gears.

I'm doing a timing belt on my lsvtec motor(ls block/b16head) and I'm having trouble getting the belt on. The belt is the right one for the setup as it was already on the motor. When I try to put the belt on..its jus to tight to slip over the cam gears.the tensioner isn't tigh..in fact even when I barely thread it in and try to put the belt on..it'll pop the tensioner out...idk what I'm doing wrong..any help is appreciated..

Where did you get this info that OP is using a ls timing belt?

Which cam gear are you trying to get it onto first?

It should go on the exhaust cam gear first before the intake.

Yeah..I try to go over the exhaust cam...yet still. A no go..the timing belt fits cause I took it off the motor...I jus don't understand why it jus won't go on the cams..even with the tensioner barley threaded in its still not going on

You have to move the Tensor to the Side.. Not have the bolt all the way lose. If the belt came on it should go back on, Which belt do you have anyway?
