obd2b honda civic hx cabin wire problem
I am in the middle of wrapping up my b16a swap, just to find out that my 00 honda civic hx doesn't have a cabin wire plug. Im using a 00 civic ex harness. The engine harness only have 2 plugs going towards the ecu. Does 99-00 obd2b Honda civic Hx not have a cabin harness? My stock hx harness have all three plugs on the engine harness itself, so im assuming i don't have a cabin harness.
Can i use a obd2(96-98) ex harness? Since i don't have a dash harness?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated

HXs are weird, '99 - '00 models remained OBD2A when everything else switched to OBD2B. Yes in this one case you can use a '96 - '98 EX harness.
i am having a similer problem,im putting a 00 hx motor engine harness and ecu into a 00 civic dx,can i use a obd2a to obd2b jumper harness to make this work, my dash harness is where im having my ploblem
No, you'll need to reuse the DX engine harness (or get a '99 - '00 EX harness) and modify it to work with the HX engine, you'll need to add vtec, knock and EGR valve wiring.
i do not have the original dx harness,
can you please tell what all i would need to do if i get a 00 dx harness,i know that harness will not have vtec
also what all would i have to do if i get the 96-98 ex harness then i would have to get a ecu jumper right?
and witch ecu would i use
thanks man!

Does anyone know what harness i will use to put a y8 in my 2000 hx? The engine is from a 99-00 civic?
Ive heard i can use my stock harness, and then i heard i should use 99-00 ex. And then i see this thread about using 96-98

You can't use a '96 - '98 harness. You'll need a P2N HX ECU and an OBD2B to OBD2A adapter harness.
Btw, both of you should probably create your own threads.
You can. I'm not sure hard is the right word, it's definitely time consuming though. Make sure if the car is a 5 speed you get a 5 speed harness (especially when dealing with an HX, the automatics in them are a CVT and the wiring is quite a bit different than all other civics)
what all would be involved in doing the cabin harness swap,i still have the whole car that my hx motor, harness and ecu came out of,but one person told me i would have to change everything, floor harness fuelpump harness even the headlight harness.by the way thanks for all your help

success! i swapped the cabin harness from the hx to the dx today! man what a job.
turned the key and fired right up! still have some finishing up to do,no plug on the hx harness for the rear wiper. might try to hard wire it

Congratulations you probably have the only correctly swapped D15Y5 in a '99 - '00 Civic in the country. IIRC the pinouts for the rear wiper are used for power locks on '99 - '00 Civics (makes sense because no model has both a rear wiper and power locks) but you could run the wires seperately.
