Default Cutting springs.

Thats right, I am cutting my springs.
I went to the junkyard and found some Neuspeed springs. I bought them for dumb cheap. The car only had rear springs. They are rated for a 2" drop in the rear, and I am wondering how many coil I should cut off of my front springs to get it to sit level. I have never cut springs before so I dont know how much to cut off for a 2" drop.

WARNING, PLEASE READ!
To those of you that are going to tell me not to cut my springs, to save up and buy a good set, here is the fact. I dont have money for ebay coilovers. Its not gonna happen. For those that are going to tell me how shitty the ride is, I dont really care. This isnt my DD and I could care less about comfort.

So if you have any useful info about cutting the springs, post it please.

Measure the car on flat ground and figure out how much drop you want.
Put the car up on RAMPS and go under and mark the springs for that drop.
- On ramps so you mark while springs are under load.

Take pics and have fun trying to get them to seat with the new jagged pointed end sticking into the coil cup!

If you cant afford e-bay coils then you are really broke and should probably find a new hobby. You gotta pay to play my friend.

Useful info here:
1. Remove oem shocks and springs from car
2. Remove oem spring safely from shock
3. Get a cut-off tool of some sort (angle grinder, saw, etc)
4. Cut the oem spring in the EXACT middle of the spring
5. Repeat on both sides.
6. Now that you effectively destroy the oem springs, get a job, save up the $80 for a set of really cheap coilovers, and do it that way. Or better yet, save up the $300 and get ground controls.
7. If step 6 is too hard (getting a job), sell or trade parts until you can come up with the necessary cash and stop trying to be so cheap and ghetto. It's people like you who do these ghetto mods that make EDs seem like a shitbox cause of the corner-cutting approach.

You should let someone on here take that off your hands for $500 the way you treat it

Goodluck with the spring hack. Some other cars say a whole coil is about a inch. May be different for hondas since coils are way smaller. But yea...GL.

Real fun, when it rolls off the road, through a childrens playground over an old person into a breeding center for small cute animals and then comes to a rest in a lake.

I'm totally cool with that, I kill people all the time when i'm JDM power shifting into reverse at pep boys after I got me some tyte neonz.

You have got to be kidding. Cutting 2" off my springs isnt going to make me lose control of the car any more than someone driving with cheap tires. As long as you dont speed and/or drive like a dick then you'll be fine.

Let me get this straight, cutting 2" off my springs directly results in death of others? That has got to be the dumbest **** I have ever heard.
You've got a pretty wild imagination, I'll give you that.

Like I said, if you dont have anything useful to contribute, just dont say anything. I didnt say you had to agree with me.

I don't agree with you at all. I can voice my opinion on the matter as much as I'd like, not for your sake, but for other people's. I hope people read my comments while searching for info on how to due this type of garbage modification and decide to go a better route.

I can only imagine how hacked up your car must be if you're willing to cut springs. I've seen people wreck their cars and hit innocent people. Maybe driving 65mph doesn't seem like a big deal, but when your piece of **** is bouncing around due to **** springs and blown shocks, you can potentially lose control. If you don't think its possible to kill someone at normal highway speeds...you're the dumbest **** I've ever heard.

Hacks like you are a nuisance. No one is telling you to spend thousands of dollars, but if you're going to modify ****, have enough sense to do it safely. Btw, your idiotic sarcasm isn't amusing.

There is always a potential to lose control of a vehicle. I have yet to see any proof that cut springs will make the car perform worse. It seems to me that it will simply lower the car on a softer spring rate than aftermarket springs. Lowering the car will make the center of gravity lower. Seeing as the factory spring rates are already softer than aftermarket, I dont see how simply lowering the center of gravity on a softer spring rate will effect the performance in a way that will make me lose control easier.

On the flip side I do understand that it will blow out the shocks quicker and that is dangerous, but you take this risk with any lowering spring/coil over sleeves, so I dont think that is a very valid argument in this case.

If you can give me some real insight into why I am wrong, then I am more than happy to listen, otherwise, I wont be speaking to you anymore.

I never said it wasnt possible to hurt someone at 65mph. Please dont put word in my mouth.

Really? There is no proof that changing the ride height of a car by cutting the springs and blowing out the shocks will make the car perform poorly? Come on, don't be so silly. The problem is not so much in cutting the spring, it's in the fact that your shocks are not going to last very long and I'm willing to bet that if you're not ready to spend the money on something as cheap as used lowering springs, you won't spend the cash to buy new shocks when you blow them out.

Using parts that are designed to perform lowers the risk significantly. I don't think you understand the meaning of maintenance if you're willing to hack up **** to look "cool." Why don't you stretch some tires too brah?

I also didn't put anything in your mouth. You said that everything is kosher as long as you don't speed, right? I used the legal speed limit on most highways as an example. 65 mph is plenty fast to make you lose it.

Again, I can give a **** if you no longer speak to me. I'm here to **** all over your asinine idea of lowering a car the ghetto way in hopes that others won't follow in your silly little footsteps. Like it or not, I really don't care and I hope you enjoy your stay here at Honda-Tech.

I am positive that I JUST said that blowing the struts will make it perform worse, so dont tell me not to be silly.

As far as the maintenance thing, you dont even have a clue. I am actually picking up some KYB shocks this evening to replace the already blown shocks that I have on it now. The cut springs will go on those shocks, not the factory ones. Kiss my ***.

The problem is not so much in cutting the spring, it's in the fact that your shocks are not going to last very long
Just wanted to separate it so that people see that you agree with what I said earlier, just in less words.
