My car idles insanely high
I have a Obd1 ls/vtec that has a stock ecu that idles anyway from 3500-4500 usually at 3500 then when I push in my clutch the car revs up to 4500 I don't even have to push in the gas when I let off the clutch and the car will move.Even when im driving the car will slowly speed up I put it in 5th when I was doing 30 mph and the car still continued to speed up slowly.I was thinking The throttle cable or the ecu? also the car has a decent size exhaust leak where the axle back meets the C pipe(I think thats what it is)

The car has a semi built head basically the only thing stock in the head is Gsr cams but it has Aem 1st gen gears on them,The car also takes a while to start when its cold and will die very easily if I don't rev it for a little bit, I was told it has bigger injectors but not an exact size so That may have something to do with it, I ordered new plugs and wires to see if that helps any but im sure its something else the exhaust
If your header is getting red you really need a tune. Way to hot for just idle! Look for vacuum leaks and take the throttle cable off. If it idle good with it off then ya found the problem
Check and clean your IAVC and FITV valves along with the throttle body. Also make sure the throttle cable isn't to tight. I just went through something similar with my civic where it would idle around 2000 rpm or have an annoying pulsing idle. There are multiple threads on how to clean these

I hope that helps.
