2 H22's but is it a good deal?
I found a guy that's selling 2 H22's, 1 H22A4 and 1 H22A. One has a Prelude trans and the other has an Accord trans, I don't know what years though. Both don't have axles, shift linkages, or PCMs. He wants $1000 each or $1600 for both. Would it be a good deal or no taking into consideration what I do and don't know? Thanks in advance.
I still have to get some details on the motor but to my understanding they both ran before they were pulled. I'll probably sell one motor for money to do the swap for the other but which one do I want? Should I have them both tested before doing anything?
Compression test both motors. Do a leak down test, observe anything for slight cracks.
If it goes well, buy both, use the one with the prelude transmission and sell both your F22 for cheap and sell the other H22.
There you go, money made back.

Sounds simple enough. How much would those tests run me? Also, would I be wise to replace all the gaskets, seals, belts and the water pump, or just leave them if they're ok?
hi, I am new to this forum and I have a question, I own a 93 Accord LX 2 door and want to do the H22A swap but I've wondered instead of pulling the entire sohc motor, why cant you, with a few mods, bolt a dohc vtec head on the block I'm sure there is a reason or everyone would be doing it,right?

932 door, please investiagte the FAQ section of the forum..
OP, I would change the seals and timing pulleys and all belts as the vehicle is already out..
Trust me, seals are cheap and you rather to do it with the motor out...

Cool, sounds great. I'll talke to the guy and see what I can do. Just one other question though, which H22 do I want to keep? The H22A or the H22A4?
Depends where you are from and how the emission is over there.
Personally I'd keep a JDM motor over a USDM motor anyday unless I am planning to BAR or legit smog it.
Just take it to the shop and see which one is healthier and then keep that one.
Unless you plan to rebuild the motor from ground up, then it wouldn't matter.
Both are almost the same, unless the H22A was a 97-98 or 00-01; but I doubt it since he's selling it for that cheap.
Also, let us know what the Head is stamped or the IM, it will give us better knowledge of which H22A he has.

As for me, I'd take the JDM H22A over the A4 but thats just me. I've race most A4's and none of them came close to mine but it all depends on the condition of the engine I guess.
