After searching I found that there are differences in the splines (200 220mm? or something) of the 90 and up MT flywheels. So are the only flywheels I can use in my 88 civic hatch are ones from 88-89 civic dx's?
Additional info: Im putting a d16z6 in the EF and am using the stock tranny.

yeah, true.
the 88 and 89 also used a smaller flywheel. you can use a 89 flywheel, just use your 88 clutch.
the interchangeability is great. i'm using a 92-95 flywheel and clutch in my 89. you'll need to use the 88-91 throw-out bearing though. the 92-95 is supposed to be a tad lighter?? i'm not too sure, but i'm using it.

I have the entire clutch kit for my 88 trans. includes bearing, pp, clutch disc and spline tool. So would I be able to use the flywheel that came with my d16z6?

I don't care if you buy it or not. It's just leftover from a swap I did, I was saving it as a back-up. Heck, I'd give it to you if you needed it to get back on the road. Search some of the other posts.

What, do you think I would try to trick you into buying something that wouldn't work? I would never do that knowingly.
The reason I went to a 92-95 clutch and flywheel is because the clutch is bigger(same size as 90-91) and the flywheel is lighter.
Your 88 tranny with 88 clutch, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing and pressure plate will work with an 88 or 89 flywheel.

@ Ken No hurt feelings. I never said you would trick me nor did I hint that. I just was double checking. For all that you couldve told me in the pm instead of asking me would it work. I just want to be 100% sure. Also for future refrence.
@ Jones as always thanks man.

here is the way my car is set up now:
88 trans (21 spline) 92-95 flywheel(212mm) 88 clutch disc (200mm) 92-95 pressure plate.
Basically, you have to use the clutch disc that matches your trans, and the pressure plate that matches your flywheel. As for the throw out bearing, I am using the same one that was in the 88 trans.
The clutch disc isnt necessarily the right one for the flywheel, but the only difference is the 12mm of surface that the 89+ clutch has. 12mm more surface= more grip, but I am having no problems with the clutch gripping in my car.
I have a Z6 swap with a OEM replacement clutch and the 200mm disc is working just fine.

Alex - Have you ever researched a 87 prelude clutch? It's supposed to match the 88 trans to the 90+ flywheel.
I saw something once about some kind of prelude one, then I saw one in the FAQ about ordering from a company and they will give you the accord disc so I really dont know what the "right" disc is.
