5k eg build suggestions
OPINIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED
alright so ive got a 94 eg coupe full interior no motor and id really like to turn it into a 12 second dd nothing crazy fast(im possitive this will change) just something reliable and clean. my budget is about 5k and i plan on doing the work myself. but id really like to hear other people opinions on motor choice and aspiration. i know k series is pushing it but i happen to have a k24a2 out of an 05 tsx that i traded a 90 da integra for. i dont believe the k can be put in the car for 5k so what are my best options motor and aspiration wise

h22.......not sure if youll hit 12sec in under 5k. but youll get the swap and whats needed for under 5k to do the h22 which has the best power and torque for the price.
i have never looked into the k swap but if you have one already then that is your most viable option as long as the motor is good (i assume youve had it leak down tested and at least gone over by a mechanic?)

Is this $5k just for engine work, or is it your hold build (suspension, appearance, wheels/tires, etc.)? The B18C is definitely one of the best swaps, especially for the money, however you wouldn't hit 12 seconds with one unless it was highly modified. H2B or F2B would be a bit quicker and probably not too much more dough. Also, a turbo D build probably gives you the most power for your money, but I've never really been in to turbo cars, maybe some gurus can give cost/power on this...
you will not be able to pick up a b18c and boost with quality parts for 5k, but you should be able to pick up a b18c1 for 1500 or less if you look around, and then piece together a good turbo kit for around 2500$, then hondata for 600$ and a tune, or you could just find a k20a2 head for fairly cheap and build a frankenstein k series motor, and cam it, that should get you close to 12s with slicks, but if your thinking 12s for now, but faster later, a turbo car is where you need to be, n/a is so much more expensive in the long run, you will eventually have to stroke/build the motor, do crazy cams, and tuning, and then you might even need nitrous to break into the 11s or faster. just depends on what your wanting, you could buy a b18c and nitrous it, and easily see 12s that would be your cheapest fastest way of doing it.
If you can bargain hunt you could get a k20 done for about that if you do all the labor.
Your other option is to get an h2b swap, very doable for that price range and the swap is simply and typically cheaper than a k20. Tuning is much cheaper than a k20.
If you're just looking to make it easy, run boost on your stock internals. A good tune will keep that reliable.
If you've already got a k-series engine, and you have $5,000 you could easily get that in there for that. You could probably pay a shop to do it if you have all the parts.

5k for the entire build
All i have is motor and trans(great condition) and you say that can be put in for 5k? what if i dont have ALL the parts
another thing.. ive done b swap before no problem but how much more difficult is it to do a k?
arent the h series known for spun bearings? im looking for reliability.
ok maybe 12sec is alittle overkill but i just dont want to be stcok d series slow...

oh yea if you have the motor already go K. the mounts is really the biggest issue going into something like an EG. theres a place around here that does it for around 1k. but even then you've still got a 200+ car for 1k. so the swap is basically the same but switched around.
you'd have to buy em. like the ECU, wireharness, axles. still not bad and the growth potential would be there.
not that i know of? but its possible.
if you don't use the K go H. you'd be lucky to find a good c5 for under 5k. and thats just buying it.

no reliability issues with the H unless you boost untuned then any motor will have issues. if you have the K then go k. you already have the most expensive part of the swap.

ok so i rode out to a local import performance shop today known for k series stuff just to get a quote for someone else to put the motor in(just being curious) and i told them what i had k24a2 paired with an accord 5 speed. and the first thing the guy said was that trans wouldnt work because they dont make mounts..... but i took a look at hasport website today and it says in the description "EG/DC K-Series Mount Kit (Accord or TSX Transmission)"
wtf...
wtf...
