First time lowering my car, help.
Like title says, I've been looking at getting just lowering springs and not new struts all the way around (b/c of cost). I don't need anything extreme b/c this is my dd that I just want lowered so it looks better. Therefore, I do not want to lower it like 3-4 inches. I am asking for advice based on experience/best setups. Is it ok to do just springs w/stock struts? I know its possible, just want to know if it handles like crap when you do this.
Anything other than an extremely mild drop - I.e. 1" - is going to warrant new shocks.
Save your money and buy something with the long term in mind. The last thing you want to do is cheap out now and it cost you more money later.
Koni Srt + a spring/coilover from a reputable brand would probably be your cheapest bet. The Srt has a lifetime warranty, and the springs you could get used very cheaply.
Otherwise above that you're looking at $600 for Progress CS-II or Koni/GC at ~$800.
That's pretty much it for your suspension choices if you're looking to save money. Dropping your car without buying quality parts is going to lead to finance eating problems in the future. Uneven tire wear, worn bushings, or even broken suspension components.
Suspension is the LAST place you should cheap out. Things get complicated and expensive very quickly.

^^^ This x 1000000000!
Trust me I know it sucks driving around at stock height. When I bought my GS-R I was itching to drop it so bad. But I wanted the good stuff, i.e. Koni Sport shocks. So I waited a long 8 months until I got my tax refund in so that I could afford quality components.
Over 9 years and 200K miles later the Koni shocks are still working great. Almost any other damper would have worn out 2-3 times over by now. Some of the best money I ever spent on my car.
