I am worring about trans. Once I shift quickly D to R, it is slow to engage for 4to 5 sec. However, if I shift slowly D- N - R in step then it works in normal. Is it problem on trans? My trans torque converter was rebuilt one or two year ago.

That's Sounds normal for a auto trans.

 

Yep, sounds like a Auto...
Replace it with Torco ATF, see if it helps but there will still be a delay in it.

 

I tested it again carefully and noticed something. I have to push up the gear lever without holding left button and pause about 1 sec on (N) position before pushing up gear lever with holding left button on gear shift into (R) to avoid the slow engagement. If I move the gear lever fast holding the left button on gear shift from D to R without pausing on N, it starts slow to engage 4 - 5 sec.

That is normal all auto cars have a delay When changing gears.

I need to make sure one more thing.

I did not try to shift gear from d to R while I was driving. If I did in drving, I understand the delay may be happend because of safty mechanism. However, I stopped by stepping the brake completely not in P position but still in D and then I moved shift gear to R. Then, it is slow to engage in reverse. However, if I push up gear to N without hitting the left button on lever and wait .5 sec in N and move to R with holding the button, it works good.

So, then do I have to shift gear D - N - R in step slowly not at once? Is it the way people usually do to shift gear with the button on the lever in automatic car?

Actually, this is the first time to drive old automatic civic with the button on the lever, so I do not know much about this car.

The B doesn't swap into the 4wd wagon.

 

Shifting P to R and N to R work well but it is delayed only if I shift D to R quickly.

 

I kno how to fix the delay. go about 25 mph on a back road where no cars are and no one is around and then slam it in to reverse that should fix your problem. If it don't put it in n rev the car till redline and slam it in to drive. Eaither one will work lol. Now if you want to kno why it has the delay it is because the trans need time to catch up. And also it is from perventing it from going in to reverse while you are going forward its kinda like a safty feature
