Icon2 electronic throttlebody

okay. so my car illiterate friend needs me to fix his car.
he took it to a shop and got an estimate for whats wrong
its a 2003 ep3
heres what the mechanic that looked at it said. and i quote

"found 3 malfunction codes in onboard computer"

im assuming sensors i will need to get out the scanner since the moron didn't write the code #'s down.

"tested individual components and found failed electronic throttle body assembly.
needs new assembly and reprogramming to match car"

okay now heres where im like huh ? the whole throttle body is shot ? i think not. am i wrong ? im assuming replace tps and maybe mav
and to reprogram the computer don't u just unhook the battery for 5mins. then start the car up and idle for like 10mins. ? correct me if im wrong.

"Needs electronic throttlebody with gasket. reprogramming new part to recognize vehicle and computer clearing"
now heres the best part. quoted $1043 +tax

bearing in mind i havnt seen the cars engine running condition since this cel came on and hes been freaking out about it running odly.
anyone have anything similar or could give me an idea of what it may be

Sounds like a bogus shop....

We don't have an "electronic throttle body" lol. Makes it sound like the new civic SI drive by wire lol

What is the car doing?

EP3's do not have DBW (drive-by-wire), instead, it has DBC (drive-by-cable). And the quote sounds way too high. It'd be funny to find out, once you take a look at it, the issue is some type of minor sensor malfunction and just needs something like an O2 sensor replacement, LOL...

yeah. the car will be here within the hour. did my homework. and it sounds like the tps may be bad. either way not difficult. i hope. throttlebody is at front and held on by some easy to reach screws so hopefully this will be easy

removing the TB is very easy and changing the TPS isnt bad. You just need a dremel tool because the stock bolts holding the TPS are rivets. So you need to cut them
