Default Ebay Clutches??

Ebay stage 2 or stage 3 clutch worth it??

I had a XTD stage 2 clutch, the weirdest thing is that it would hold shifts just fine and grab so hard it would shake the front end lol. But trying a burn out it still wouldn't hold up all that well and slip. But I damaged the hub trying to put the wrong trans in, so I have a stocker in there and it blows. Any recommended clutches for a good price that are proven. Not looking into anything too fancy. Just something to hold up to the abuse I put that poor 1.5 through.

Exedy Stock Replacement. You don't need anything more than that. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of ****. Avoid those P.O.S clutches on ebay.

Exedy > any off brand garbage.

Stage 1 here for 3+ years. First third of its life on a B16 with nitrous that pumped out 193 lbs of torque. The last two thirds on my B20vtec that puts out 165lbs and I daily it. It holds just fine.

I guarantee he didn't break it in properly, they are great clutches if broken in right.

I have installed 3 XTD stage 3 clutches and flywheels in 3 different cars and have never had a problem with any of them. I will definately consider using one again on my next build.

DONT buy ebay no name clutches. they are crap. if you dont want to spend a ton of money buy an exedy and break it in correctly. If you are using your car as a race car or doing burnouts all the time, maybe you should save your pennies and buy a really good clutch instead of wasting your time and dropping your tranny to replace it all the time.

Just my 2 cents

I've had great success with xtd clutches, but I always over clutch my setup. I had a sprung 6 puck on an old sohc setup for a year with no issues, then gave the clutch to a friend that's been using it for 2 more years. Right now I'm using an unsprung 6 puck on my ls that came out of my friends boosted ls. It slipped around 300whp so he swapped it out for a an unsprung competition 6 puck, that was after 1 yr of abuse, and I've been beating it up for about 18 months now.

And to the guy that says exedy isn't a good brand...seriously?

The break in is everything. Dpfi with a 4 speed and a xtd stage 2 it made my car feel like a totally differnt car. Its been a yr and a half and it still grips strong. Better than exedy imo

agree! you cant install a new clutch then go do crazy burnouts..the disc has to be driven gingerly for a bit.. then youll be good. given the flywheel was replaced/resurfaced.

Ive personally ran 2 XTD clutches, both 6 puck, sprung clutches. Never had any slippage. Turbo and all motor, both were also properly broken in. XTD is good for the money, I would defiantly buy from them again.

this is good advice, they're good but they don't hold as much power as they should.

never said they wernt good clutches but on certain set ups no good and some good all that matters is if u break it in properley and how u treat it and use it

Just be aware that the clutch is a critical component. If a bearing fails its gonna be a big huge PIA. Or better yet say the rotating assembly isn't built to the proper specs or something machined just a little too much here or missed a number there on the drawing and kaboom! The Pressure plate shatters and you got super high velocity metal piece flying to your leg

Ebay clutches arnt shitty couse of the way there made there shitty couse some people cant drive. I do agree that there not no high performace clutch but there good clutches. I have a si tranny that has a ebay clutch, and it has held up well. My old hatch had an extedy clutch and It held up...IMO its about how u drive it. My hatch has a t 3/t4 turbo and I run a ebay clutch work great never had no problems. But if u were making a race car I wouldnt get ebay clutch..but then again everybodys got a racecar lol.

Thanks for the replies, and my civic is not a race car but I like to enjoy my cars when drive them. I do agree that my XTD clutch was pretty good, even broke trans mounts with it because it grabbed so hard. So if I can just get a replacement clutch disc I am going to opt for that. I think the stage 3 clutch disc would be a good idea.

I have been told XTD is a re-brand of Exedy clutches.
