Default Swap questions.

I'm new to posting here, but I've been on here for a little while reading up on things to help me out with my 1997 Del Sol S.

My d15 is now junk and I originally had plans to sell it and just get rid of it, then I was going to just replace the blown motor with a running sohc in order to sell it for a little more money to eventually get a crx.

But, now I have a change of heart. I'm now looking into a complete swap and building this car until next winter or until I no longer enjoy driving it and want another model.

I just have a few questions.

I'm looking into a B18 Vtec, but then I was told maybe I should look into an H series. So I've spent all day looking up different motors and prices, but I keep seeing H22, H23 and would like to know there real difference, if an H23 is really worth a little extra.
Also, what's the difference between an H series and an F series. I've seen a few F22s. I've found some full swaps that come with nearly everything, but I'm having a hard time finding out about each motor, besides the specs shown that look nearly the same to me.

Please help me out. Any info will help.

Thanks for looking!

if you want reliable no headache frankenstein swap i say just go jdm h22 with lsd tranny.. but if you have the money get a gsr or itr b series tranny and get the h2b kit for it so you save axles or you can just leave it with the h series tranny and have a shop make a custom axle(note: axle angle will change with the suspension height of your ride) so if you plan to use coilovers and raise and drop it you might run into problems

I think I may just make it into an SI rep with a b16. or go farther with a B18 or B20. The thing is.. is that I plan on lowering the car quite a bit and I;m not looking for a racecar kind of status either. just something a little more powerful but no headaches and something that won't get me in too much trouble ha.

id go b16 and bar it. its still quick and the add ons are simple plus you have vtec. b20 is nice ive had it good torque. ls never had only ls vtec and that you cant bar and i dont think you can bar b20 either some say they have but ive never seen it. b16 with carb legal add ons and some internals and tuned is a nice quick setup for sure it makes power and is still quick especially with ctr cams it cracks hard

In that case i'd stay away from an H/F-series. You'll be dealing with a poor axle angle, made even worse by lowering.

B-series will drop in and work exactly like stock, no aftermarket mounts, no custom axles, no one off parts, just bolt in Honda reliability.

Yeah I kept my research going until my eyes couldn't open any longer at 5AM ha.
B16A2 is what I'm thinking. I believe my D15s block is junk and my Distributor is now dead. But what could I salvage from my D series and put to the B series, if anything?...
I've found a full swap B16A2 Dohc Vtec with axles, ecu, mounts, transmission... everything. for about $2200 in Montreal. I'll keep my eye out in the New England area, while I get the money to pay for that one, unless a cheaper one is found.

leave good swap websites, if any known. I've been looking at jdm motors depo. and the best of jdm from Montreal.

Thanks to the feed back and help.

You can salavage a lot of sensors from your D-series, as well as the engine harness (you will need the harness so make sure you don't cut it removing it)

When I bought my JDM D15B Vtec a few years ago I bought it from Sunrise JDM in Montreal through an ebay auction. I've put around 80,000kms on it since I got it and it's never taken a drop of oil or coolant, never really given me any trouble at all to speak of and it was cheap. I don't know if i just got lucky or not, I really haven't heard tell of anyone else buying from them.

B18B1 ftw. Very simple and headach free. I've been running mine for alittle over a year now and I'm very satisfied with the swap.

I too would also recommend a b-series for the straight drop in. What's your budget?

Personally I'd go with a b18b and an LSD transmission. The car would be extremely fun to drive.

LSD + the final drive from those transmissions that have LSD are some of the most under-rated performance upgrades. Lots of bang for the buck.

I just put a 98 Gsr B18c1 with LSD in the stock tranny in my 93 Del Sol and its awsome. In my opinion the best swap i could have done and i was like you and concidered every possible engine.

Your cheapest option is the H23 from an accord. The H22 and B18 are about even in cost and will be somewhat more money. The B18 probably has the most available aftermarket parts for a build. The B18 will require higher shift points and more shifting than the H22. For street racing I'd choose the H22 (more torque). For drag racing I'd choose the B18.
The B18 will accept more boost pressure on stock internals. I have an H22A with LSD trans and I love it. I run 100 Hp nitrous on stock motor and chipped ecu. Remember there's no substitute for cubic inches. I ride alone, I race alone.

Alright. I've got some del sol general questions so I'll keep everything in those one thread.
Will the 1993 front bumper and lights fit onto a 1997 without replacing the senders and hood, or do I have to replace the entire front clip?
