'91 EF code 1
Hey guys, not much came up when I searched this code so I'm just looking for a little insight into the usual culprit of this code. Does changing the O2 sensor mostly always cure this, or are there other issues that cam create this as a phantom code (faulty injector, clogged air filter etc.)
Thanks as always and I'll start off by swapping the sensor I suppose.
The code clears once I shut off the car but about 60% of the time after I fire it up and hit the freeway the CEL comes on and it's always code 1. Hope that helps.

check and make sure its not grounding out by hitting the tranny...i recently got this code and my wiring to the o2 was exposed...put new wiring and the code went away...!!!
So guys I replaced the O2 sensor with a good used off my buddies wrecked EF, sensor portion itself looked different but plugged in fine and the code still came back. As soon as I was cruising steady speed for about 1 minute the check engine light came on and code 1 is the only one stored in the ECU. Wiring looks mint as well.
One thing I should note is that the old O2 sensor was white (lean) which struck me as odd. So I pulled a spark plug and it had a nice tan color to it, nothing out of the ordinary there...
Also I only started getting this code after I did my oilpan seal - go figure.
Any pointers would be great guys.

Any suggestions? Could it be a slightly worn main relay not sending enough voltage to the fuel pump causing me to run lean? Kind of far fetched but I'm just grabbing at straws.

Make sure you you dont have any vacuum leaks and make sure you have good plugs/wires. If you think your running lean the fuel filter could be clogged/old as well... just a couple ideas
it may sound weird but do you live in any high elevation areas? i personally have the same problem with mine, swapped sensors and all...still the code. always happens to me when i drive up a couple thousand feet to my nearby mountain to snowboard. somethin to check
Mine wouldn't reset by just removing the fuse, I disconnect the battery for
a minute or so. I just changed my o2 code came back reset again haven't
came on in two months.

You pulled one spark plug and saw that it was tan.
Pull all 4 and check each one of them.
It sounds that your engine isn't running right.
How current are you on basic tune-up?
How healthy would you say the engine running?
Do you run a chipped ECU?

Honecker mechanically this thing is MINT. Engine runs perfect after I changed the TPS. the car actually hasn't thrown the code since it did that one time after I changed the O2 sensor.

or it also could be the 02 sensor if the wiring isn't bad and needs to be fixed
