Default Prelude 2001 not starting and low compression

Hi ,

first sorry for my poor english.

My friend have a prelude 2001 and he refuse to start .

Plug smell gaz and wet , and I have a check engine 71,72,73,74 (misfire) and 14 (Idle Control System Malfunction)

I have done a compression test and the result are 180-180-90-210

I have check and all spark plug and they all Spark when I crank.

I am not sure where to check next .

Is that a typo or are you really only getting 90psi on that third cylinder?

Pour a teaspoon of clean motor oil into the low compression cylinder and repeat the test? Did the value go up? If so it could well be your piston rings. If not it might be a leaking valve. I doubt it's an internal head gasket leak since the adjacent cylinders have good compression.

Unless you're going to do a full tear down on the engine, I'd suggest bringing it to a competent shop and have them perform a full leakdown test so you know EXACTLY where that lost compression is going. I'd **GUESS** that it's a piston/piston ring problem on cylinder 3...

Do a leakdown test, it'll tell you exactly what is wrong like godslayer mentioned.

yeah I will do a leak down test later this week for now my tester is not at home.

I have put 4 new spark plug and I got this result on all 3 normal compression cylinder the spark plug seem to have fire and the low compression cylinder (90) no fire the plug stay like a new one and smell gaz a lot .

I think the car refuse to start because the low compression from the cylinder 3.
