what is more important, spring rate or brand??
I'm about to get new springs, BUT i have been told to stay away from certain brands because they are "rubbish". the people are telling me rubbish because they reckon their cars don't handle well with the springs. they changed to spoon and gave them the thumbs up. what would the difference be between say spoon 7kg/mm springs and an anonymous brand of spring with a 7kg/mm spring rate????
purely from the handling perspective mind you.
don't worry about quality or durability for the time being.

Both, if you don't have the right spring rate you risk bottoming out alot. But if you buy a crappy brand they will start saggin. Then it throws out your alighnment and well, your car leans. Don't skimp on suspension, if its sucks, your car sucks.

stick to name brands because they usually have the best spring rate and quality. if youre more opted to making your car roll on a specific spring rate... see what they offer... and do some research on the product. i know ground control offers different spring rates... sometimes you just gotta inquire with the company.
Both. Your looking for consistency in the manufacturing of the spring and it's ability to resist sagging, or maintaining it's linearity or rate.

both are important.. if you get some generic brand w/ a decent spring rate and ride quality (when new) they might start degrading in performance and start sagging.. also the big name companies have the money for quality equipment/engineering plants and machinery whereas the smaller brands might use questionable materials, engineering, and outdated machinery or something... w/ low quality.. the performance/handling over time can degrade... I'd stick w/ name brands... both spring rate and brand are important...
