HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY??

I was looking to do the same thing.

I was also told that aftter spending like 300 on the UDM cluster the one with correct 9k redline for the high revving engine and a 155MPH!!! speedo.

YEA thats the one. How do you install????? HMM i wonder

I was under the impression it was PLUG and PLAY it came out of a 91 civic and it should go right in.

Why can i take any other civic cluster and just pop it in? i spent lots of money buying pointless **** that never worked.

HA HA HA LOL whats funny is some BONE head told me that in order to install the UKDM or EDM i have to take the thing all apart and remove the faces. than find a JDM one and remove them faces and put the edm red needle faces in? make sence? NO. I was going to buy a EDM cluster from over seas........... after it added up FOR ME to like 400 bucks i said f it.

I would just try plugging it in they have the same cable driven speed sensor.

I really dont think that it would cause all that much problems. I have wired my whole car and there were times where i thought im going to fry something and i only blasted the ecu once my ignition fried and cooked the ecu. wasnt anything i did i believe it was age on the part. you mght have a spark or something or a light maay light up but i highly doubt you will have a car fire...

Thats the type of stuff i think about like everything i go through and than something dumb like that. Try it out let me know

Im curious where you got yours and for how much. I want THAT LOOK too.

i uploaded a pic. thats what the 1 i want looks like. u in jersey?

You don't need to do any wire modification. All you need to do is swap the actual gauges into your stock housing. And then your ready to go.

The easiest way is to swap the tachometer and the speedometer from the EDM cluster into the USDM housing then you won't have to repin your harnesses. There are write-ups, just search under "cluster swap"

Carlos beat me to it.

Well I'm not sure if the EDM clusters are the same as the JDM one's, but back in 2004 when I did mine I had to have the Electronic Speedo Sensor instead of the USDM Cable Speedo Sensor... So it's just simply un-bolting the 2 bolts on the back of the tranny and swapping the two sensors and re-run the speedo back through the fire wall and into it's stock position...

The only problem I had is that those two bolts are a bitch to get too when the engine is in the car... If the EDM clusters have a cable port in the back then you just plug and play!

i just dont like that. Everyone else can say how great it is. But the only reason I want to do this cluster swap is becasue i have a standard civic. No Si.

Si has a tach. My std dont. I want to upgrade to the Way better looking tach. For me it does not make sence to buy both, which would be required for me to do since i got to get the one to dismantle the guts and than get the jdm one and dismante that. if i can get this Si housing SUPER CHEAP than i would be more than happy. I have ike 4 housings that i pulled from a LX or something thinking it would work and all the copper terminal wire like **** on the back shorted out... Just my luck..

Kinda turned me away from this whole project becasue it seemed like it was too much work finding the housing. And being that the cheapest EDM is like 250-300 shipped Still want to go through with this but this is expensive for the project.

The reason is because of the orange needles. I paid $85 shipped on eBay for mine. It has the standard white needles, I'm not gonna pay an extra $100+ for orange needles, and the seller even had the cluster match the actual mileage that is on mu chassis.

Mine had the standard white needles also, but I painted them orange along with the fuel and temp needles, and I reset the odometer to the correct mileage with the help of a thread in the FAQ. I paid about $70 for a UKDM cluster and just used the speedo from it, I also used a tack from an EDM cluster out of germany that has a 7200 RPM redline which is corrct for my JDM D15B VTEC motor, I think I gave about $40 for it, but it had kilometers instead of miles per hour. I bought it first then later I found the UKDM cluster that also has a 7200 RPM redline but it had the redline colored in a crosshatch design instead of the solid orange which I like better. I'm swapping all of this into a Civic EX cluster when I finish my cruise control install because of the cruise control light that is in the lower left position on that cluster.

i paid $120 for my edm VT cluster shipped

Install is not plug and play, but can easily be made that way by swapping out the gauges themselves into a usdm Si housing as a couple people have already mentioned. It is very easy and can be done in 10-15 mins

Once swapped, it will plug right into your non Si car, as long as you have a 90-91 model

as long as its a non-SiR or VTi cluster it should be plug and play. but remember, 88-89 clusters have different pins than 90-91 clusters. so youll need to re-pin some wires if youre trying to put a 90-91 cluster in an 88-89 car or vice versa... heres a link to the pins

^^ I didn't take pics of something so simple It literally takes 10 mins to do...i guess i could outline it for you

- start with two clusters. A usdm 90-91 Si cluster, and a 1.6i or VT cluster....and your car has to be a 90 or 91 model to work with out additional mods

- with a flat head screw driver, pop the tabs off for the clear plastic cluster cover

- flip each cluster around, you will see two phillips screws for each gauge. There are only 3 gauges....speedo, tach, and the temp/fuel gauge

- take the 3 edm gauges, drop them into the usdm cluster housing and reinstall the 6 screws, and your done!!!

The usdm cluster housing has a different print sheet on the back of it. With the edm gauges installed, all functions except the dimmer and low fuel warning will work

that's it man
