new to honda...
its an auto unfortunatly but i got it for 800 in near perfct condition body wise it needs work but all the gaskets belts and hoses are new and a hole list of stuff..guy got a dui so i scooped it up
im just saying usually cars are known for certain things breaking. like cavaliers and there headgaskets mk3 vws and always loose reverse just random stupid things that an accord is known for
Well, since the Accord is not a stupid car there is no stupid list of things. I wish that we didn't have to change timing belts, but I must say I like the quiet in comparison to a timing chain and now the interval is up to 90k miles, so it's not so bad.
The body rust in the rear is the signature defect for the sedans. Mine is in terrible shape for that. I bought it that way, it is a commuter car, I really don't care about it.
I have driven my Accord since I bought it used with 100k miles on it in 1999. It is a really solid vehicle, my next bangaround vehicle is going to be a Honda.
Keep after it, do not take shortcuts and you will be happy with it.

To prevent rust in the rear quarter panels remove the rubber lining piece in the fender wells and make sure there are no grime/dirt lurking in there. If you live in an area where salt is used to clear snow on the roads make sure you clean that specific area OFTEN! to avoid the honda cancer
I just bought the same car as the OP and SURPRINGLY THERE WAS NO RUST!. I decided to further inspect the rear inner fender wheel well, there was massive amounts of dirt built up and grime so cleaned it and removed the rubber lining. Some rust did start but lucky I caught it in time.
To the OP Honda's are not Volkswagens, besides the lack of Torque Honda's are VERY REALIABLE!
The common issues with the 95 accord are
-ABS unit
-speedometers go bad, (that issue is a small circuit board in the back of the speedometer, swap it out your good).
-timing belt check with previous owner when it was serviced and if it was done recently no need to worry.

Ive had three now and I love them. I say f maintenance until you get the H/5speed swap in there. Id want to blow that auto just for reason to swap. And for 800 youll still be under 2000. Only issues Ive had are the cv's, speedometer and the rust/ cancer, never heard of anything else that was "common".
Before you start fixing things look into a whole swap, killing two birds type of thing.

yea i was thinkig that cuz auto just is rediculous and being that mines the 145 hp model (according to a review site the ex has a 145 hp engine instead of the 130 hp) idk if thats true you can barely even tell cuz of the auto delay. and as far as vtec goes i could care less cuz its really not a big deal. if ne of that is wrong corect me cuz im far from a honda guy. and im trying to get aquainted

only other issues i've found besides the previously mentioned is lugs...make sure they're tight as hell cuz mine fell off at one point...actually...just watch where you park....
*edit: another accord buddy of mine almost lost a wheel because of loose lugs
