Would anyone advise against this?
The screen in my iacv is really gunked. Where does this come from and where does it go? Can I cut out the screen? Consequences?

Why not just wire brush it with brake cleaner?

I've been trying that. Most of it is behind the screen. Maybe I'll just let it sit in brake cleaner.

im sure that "screen" is a filter. you wouldn't run an engine without a oil filter now would you?

So the screen didnt get clean so I cut it out. The spring behind it is almost completely stuck because of "carbon?" build up. I went ahead and ordered one since I dont plan on upgrading to a different manifold and put the old one with cut out screen back on after cleaning the spring the best I could. Idles fine now but I dont want to use it that much. I figure the IACV will clog a lot quicker without the screen.
