Fix CRX A/C system
it depends what the problem is man it could just need to be flushed and add new freeon or it could need hoses itd problee be best to have a shop checck it outtt
It depends on what is wrong, like the previous poster said. If it leak checks OK and the compressor is good, then you can get away for under $100 easily. If the compressor is bad then get ready to fork over the money, probably $300 - $400.
By itself, the compressor is an expensive part. I wouldn't go with a used one because 1) you don't know what condition it is in internally 2) you don't know what system it was previously on as R-12 and R-134 oils are not compatible 3) the only real way to find out if it is good is to finish the job and find out a lot of effort just to repeat it because you cheaped out.
When you replace the compressor you should also replace the dryer and expansion valve, which also adds to the cost. If you don't, there is a possibility that it won't work.
Working on a/c is easy, if you have the proper tools and work cleanly. It just is a bit labor intensive, which is why it costs a lot.

It can be something simple like the compressor clutch relay or some dodgy connectors or wiring somewhere. Pays to take a look at the A/C diagnostic flowchart in the service manual.
the ac on my 91 si quit over the summer. a shop figured out that the compressor was bad, it had a bad valve. they wanted 580 to replace it and charge it with refridgerant..haha yeahhh i dont think so. i replaced the compressor myself and had it filled for 60 bucks.
yup when i first got my hatch (std) 4 speed all the ac **** was there and over the summer i grabbed a idle pully from the junkyard for like five bux charged the ac with freeze 12 a r12 replacment but the bearing in the pulley was shot so it squeaked crazy so i got a new pulley from autozone for 30 now ac blows ice

Same with my moms' Ford Contour. Her brakes were pretty much done and we went to a shop who quoted her $700. We turned around tried to leave when they mentioned they would give us a special offer and do it for $500. We said no and they lowered it to $350!!
We bought the parts and got a local mechanic to do it. Total was $200 for everything.
Could have saved more by doing it myself but oh well.

Make sure to pull a good vacuum as well.
