has anyone here ever cracked a piston?
just wondering b/c a friend of mine just cracked a piston in his gsr.
btw they are je 9:1 pistons he cracked. just one of them.
and also what would cause this?faulty driving?

Detonation or improper installation of piston rings.
Dont even think about blaming the pistons.

could be.. the piston would be hitting the cylinder wall really hard, the car would probably lean out, and valves would be smacking the piston too... not a good combination.

I have broken ring landings and melted pistions. Melted a dime size hole in one after hitting the rev limiter/fuel cut off in 4th while boosting 8psi.
