07 Si rear wheel bearing replacement
I have a bad rear wheel bearing on my 07 Si. I can handle the repair myself, it is just something I haven't done before. Because of this, I am looking for tips/information. Anyone have a copy of the tech manual or atleast the section that covers the rear wheel bearings that they can send me? A diagram and torque specs would be very helpful. Any information from people who have done this before would be appreciated as well.
It looks pretty simple the hub bolts to the knuckle from the back, you need to remove the caliper and the rotor, and unbolt it from the rear of the knuckle.
When you get the rotor off clean up the threads of the bolts with a wire brush and spray them with some pb blaster or some type penetrating oil so they come out easyer.
The bolts are torqued to 47 lbs according to the book, and it says to make sure the O ring isn't torn, it probably comes with a new one anyway.

Did it on my drums last week. Hardest part was loosening the screws.

How many miles are on your civic? Wheel bearings are covered under the
5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty. Of course this is covered if it wore out and not if there was damage to it.

Thanks for the information. The link to the 8th was helpful. I have 86k miles on my Si so it's out of the warranty. The warranty is the first thing I would have tried if I were still under 60k miles.
on fwd cars, at least all i've worked on, it is very, very easy.
comes off as one unit...slides right off after you get the disc off, which is easy.
trust me, a monkey could do it in 20 min.
you shouldnt have a problem.
Be sure to let us know how it went

Thanks for the input everyone. I changed the bearing/hub last week. It was really easy and took less than an hour. I can't believe the dealership wanted to charge almost $300 to do it! av911, thanks for the link....it helped a lot. My car now rides quite again.

No problem.
Love the fact that we didn't get f*cked in the *** by bringing it into the dealership or any other shop. And also the noise is completely gone.
