Droop travel with extended top hats and Koni race dampers?
I'm running Koni Ground Control with Koni spss3 race dampers (8041). These dampers are shorter than the regular Koni yellow by about 25mm. I'm no suspension guru, but I've read that using extended top hats together with these dampers will in effect make the damper "too short" and you won't have enough droop travel. Is that right? My spring rates are f:430lbs r:600lbs (civic eg). What is good droop travel on this setup?

Is the shock piston shorter, or the shock body, or both? Do you have any pics of your assembled setup, preferably next to an OEM setup?
I'm sure you do have much less droop travel than stock. What this means is that depending on how much or little droop travel there actually is, you could have issues with the tires coming off the ground more/easier when going over large bumps and dips, or during hard cornering. The less tire area on the ground, the less you're in control of the car.

Shortened koni race shocks and extended top hats is probably too much and overly redundant. I believe I remember, but don't quote him, that lee grimes said its not recommended.
They shorten the shaft and the body (or else there would be interference issues, really)... You should not need the extended top hats with them, however.
So yeah - what they said.
