Default Suspension opinions...

Hey guys...about to change out my stock suspension...and Im not planning on doing anything crazy (nowhere close to autox or road race) but I would like a stiffer suspension. I was thinking about Tokio Blues or maybe Koni Yellows with Ground Control coilovers. I know I want to use ground control, but the Konis are mighty expensive to just use on the street. How are the Tokios?

Tokico blues are very soft - they cannot even be compared to Koni Yellows.

Compare the price and you will either want a cheaper dampener or you will compare the Tokico Adjustable (Illumina?) to the Koni Yellow.

For the cheapest but awesome set-up, you might want to look into the KYB/AGX adj. dampeners and the aforementioned Ground Control coil-over sleeves. I had the KYB/AGX and they were awesome IMO - I auto-X'd on them for some time with no problems, and the car still rode great.

If you have the money though, I would get the Koni Yellows. They are kick-*** and I'm sure many others will echo that they can handle a lot of abuse.

What kind of car do you have? Weight? Usage? Just curious.

Yea, I was kinda of looking at upgrading suspension soon too per the reccomendations of a bunch of friends. I got all the bodywork done on my Si, I'll have to post pictures as soon as I get a chance to take some, so I suppose this is next in line...

I know jack **** about suspension... I do know that I want something that handles great for autocrossing but it still fine for the daily driver, and prefereably won't cost a small fortune.

Right now my Si is around stock weight minus air conditioning system, and its gonna be mostly my daily commuter/weekend warrior at the autocrosses.

Sorry to barge in on the topic, I'd appreciate any help you can give.

I second the opinion on the KYB's. I'm so happy with my AGX's.

Tok Blues are terrible. Too soft and not enough life expectancy. I'd say you'd be better off with stock shocks.

i'm riding on ground controls and tokico illuminas. i really like the fact that i am able to adjust my height and stiffness. so far neither have given any problems. my car is mainly used as a daily driver, but she also handles great on the mountain runs. i don't know how much koni's run, but GC's= $300 + Illuminas= $400, so your looking at around $700 for your suspension package, but it's money well spent
