Default are carbon fiber parts played out?

i'm gearing up to build another EG hatch, an dhave some questions...

i like the look of the Spoon style carbon duckbill, and i like carbon fiber hoods.

only problem is, everybody has them on their cars, and it looks like everyone else's car...

i also like carbon fiber fenders on a black/charcoal car, but again - they seem to be a played out trend...

i know it's my car, i do what i want - but i don't want to be grouped in with the 16 year old kids that have this on their cars... as i'm 32...

so, i ask you - opinions? is it played out? how much carbon fiber is too much?

thanks.

What kind of question is that to ask? If you like it then put it on your car. I dont understand why people are so concerned with what others have done or what they are doing.

I believe cf is for ricers! If u really wanna save weight u will get frp! As frp tends to be lighter then the Cf products that u can afford on the market !
Dry cf cost 3x the price !

How ever if u do get CF parts.... U have to paint some parts of it to match ur car
Just a plain cf trunk sitting on ur car is no longer the trend

to me, some is okay, a hood/trunk or spoiler is fine, maybe even a lip. but when you got cf fenders, cf gas cap, cf door pillars, that's just ricey

I like CF looks. I slapped on hood/trunk and lip. To each his own, do what you like, who cares what other thinks. In the end, you're the driving it =D. Plus, other might even steal your style LMAO =D

and as far as the looking like everyone else, i don't.

i am however asking a simple question. i have recieved a few intelligent answers to this question, but not many...

so, let's let this thread die...

Lolled @ this comment. You must feel so much better than the rest of us here since you own an "expensive" car

I wonder what you are doing on HT since 90% of the members here owns a cheaper Honda model...

maybe it is. i remember CF was cool and really expensive, but now with CF wrap, anybody could get the look of CF parts for a fraction of the price and without the functionality.

I can appreciate what the OP is trying to accomplish here. You can very much tell the difference between a car that was "built" by a kid, and a car that was built by an adult. It's pretty much impossible to be different...anything that has to do with a Honda has been done. Gobs of CF has never looked good IMO...carbon or not, it doesn't flow well. I think an EG with an Sir wing and a real Mugen front lip "fits" an adult better than a duckbill and carbon hood.

Just my .02

And to the Nsx guy...that was a pretty ignorant statement. Theres guys in Japan still working on and racing Civics that are 40+. Hell, whats that old man's name that was in the last lap battle in SS who drives the blue EG with the gsr motor. I think that guy is in his 50's. Either way, it wasn't cool.

thanks to all that posted intelligent answers.

i am thinking just a lip and a duckbill. was leaning towards a hood, but decided not to.

car will be posted in the builds thread, as i bought it as just a shell. it's completely gutted right now, getting ready for paint... car will be the original color - Phantom Grey Pearl - which i feel looks good with some carbon touches. worked gsr swap, suspension, etc...

and again, i'm sorry i'm so old and still working on EG's. i'm sure Ichishima Tatsuru (founder of SPOON Sports) has killed himself by now for being so old and still into hondas...

Build your car for yourself, not the forums.

I'm 34 and building a jrsc RT4WD wagon. This is what I grew up doing, and what I still love doing...why would I stop? Not everyone gets "old" AND rich at the same time

I love the phantom grey pearl color. Probably one of the best Honda ever put out, especially on the 5th gens. Some quality CF on that paint would look pretty good imo.

Edit: added quotes to old. heh.
