My car was in an accident while parked outside a Convenience store, a truck struck thru back and smashed front into tree, now insurance fully paid car + i manage to buy it back from them....The problem i have the tail lights and 3rd brake light remain on after car is off. running lights r ok is just brake lights remain on..I bought a new brake switch and recheck all wiring on back, switch the black box on left tail light no burned fuses....can anyone push me in the right direction....thats the last problem to get my state inspection back....does the wiring have a relay I'm not checking....that how car look after accident

 

While replacing the brake switch, you did verify that the "plastic" stop was still there-the one on the pedal that contacts the switch.

From there you have to chase down the wiring, with the damage the wires might have been "pinched" or something.

 

yes, I checked the stop, still there...I removed the all plastic wraps from rear wiring, checked for pinched wires but everything looks ok, also checked for continuity with ohm meter but everything checks out, I also disconnected the brake switch but lights still on...is there a sensor on front end, like airbag sensor that could cause this, Airbags didnt go off but just in case....

 

Sounds like the relay is stuck open. Check the under-dash fuse/relay box for the relay and test it.

 

when u say relay..r u talking about the flasher? if not u could u point me in right direction to which relay u talking about

 

Not talking about the flasher (which is another relay). Go under the left side of the driver's dash (I think it's behind the kick panel), pull the top off the fuse/relay box, read the underside of the top you just took off and look for the brake light relay. I can't tell you anymore than that as I don't have the info on your car. Try finding an uploadable service manual or wire diagram.

Ok the stop is there, sorry had to ask. Have you started from the switch back..meaning if the switch is not sending power then what is (GRN/WHT-out of switch goes to lights, WHT/YEL is hot in-using 94 wire diag)...hum, brake light realy, that is one I'm going to have to look that one up?

 

Hey nice Accord what size rims are those and whats the tire size as well I hope you can look and tell me the exact tire size.

Cause I am trying to decide what size is best for me my car 17" or 18" and what tires size I would have to use if I pick size 18"s
