Grind noise when vtec hits h22

Grind noise when vtec hits h22
H22 motor
I haven't really looked to into it yet but when i go to hit vtec at 5500rpms you can hear this loud grinding noise like a miss shift. Weird *** noise. I havent taken the valve cover off yet thinking maybe something to do with the vtec rocker arms. The ecu says vtec is engaged but i only let it hit for a second cause the noise sounds pretty bad. The motor idles fine and drive good. no noises or anything before vtec. I had the head pressure tested and resurfaced. wonder if anything got messed up during then.
wondering if anyone else has had this problem before?
