Can you use the vtec solenoid from a single cam on a twin cam?

Does it matter if the motor is usdm or jdm?

I am throwing codes 21,22,23

The Sohc Solenoid mounts differently so my guess would be it cannot be used.

 

i have *heard* that you CAN interchange vtec solenoids from SOHC to DOHC. personally i have swapped a solenoid from the del sol vtec to the b16a1, but both are DOHC motors.

 

can you just buy this part somewhere other then honda, or if you do buy it else where do you have to buy the motor and trans?

 

from honda they are like 220 bucks. i'm sure you could get one from a wrecking yard or someone on HT for MUCH cheaper. it is easily removed (3 bolts and 2 clips)..and is roughly the size of a pack of smokes.

 

My roomate has my OLD GSR motor's vtec solenoid on his d16z6. Everything works fine.

hey there both b16 so means they fit right smart guy

sohc and dohc vtec solenoids are totally different
they arent interchangeable

 

yes they are interchangable

the SOHC silenoid from 92-95 is the same as the B16A1 and A3(delsol?)
the actual head of the SOHC is smaller than the B16 but the internal is identical and the mouting is the same

the 96+ SOHC is different and will not fit
