Car wont go into gear (WTF).
Last week i posted about my tranny problem (about it not going into gear) and had mixed responses. Well the problem persisted until 2 days ago and now it wont go into gear at any time. Before, u could here a rattling what sounded like a hundred pieces hitting each other only when the clutch was'nt engaged then when u engaged the clutch it would go away. Well now the noise is gone but it wont go into gear. A few people told me it was the clutch which i am replacing today. i wanted to ask u guys one more time just to make sure i am doing the right thing. Oh! and one more thing when the car is off it will go into gear but not when the car is on. also, if i start it in a gear it jumps forward. For some of u who dont remember my car is the 01' R with 57,000 miles and thanks for the info.

thanxs a lot man. I needed to be reasured i was doing the right thing from my Honda-tech family.
its the clutch.. my RS was exactly the same, replaced the clutch and it was good as new!! turned out that one of my clutch springs had popped out. don't worry, replace the clutch and it'll be fine
the clutch pressureplate went bye bye. guarantied that the pressureplate spring just failed. I had the same exact problem with exactly the same symptoms.
I changed master and slave cylinders too ....... but that was not needed.
You should be good to go once the clutch is replaced. BTW what are you getting installed?

Lee, after reading your post. It all point to the clutch. Make sure you change out the two bearings as well and check your dics for abnormal wear. Good luck.

same thing happened to me. a piece of the clutch broke off and got stuck. i had to replcae the clutch.
yeah most likely the clutch... i was cruisin once and i couldnt shift into 3rd, then i could, then it just stopped.. i had to cruise in 1st and 2nd... then when i pull over i couldnt shift at all.. it was stuck in gear.. i tried as hard as i could, but i couldnt shift out. so most likely u need new clutch..

Well guys, i have some good news. I replaced the clutch and now it works great. Thanx for the info. When i pulled the clutch out one of the springs fell out and it was trashed. It took me and a friend about 8 hours start to finish. I was told to take it easy for about 500 miles or so. Is that pretty accurate?? Once again thanx for your help.
hey~ the cheapest way to fix this is get a tranny oil change
to see whatsup. dont waste ur money on a clutch job yet
