97 civic with ls swap will not stay running
ok i got a 97 civic with a ls swap and i cant get it to stay running or running right. when i start it up itll idle high then drop down and try and die and when i give it gas itll start cracklen and poping and die out but if i feather the gas itll rev up but then dies out. with that said the car is a dx converted to a ex harness and i had to wire up the iat sensor and im wondering if i wired up backwards if so would it cause this and i also had to change the throttle body and i used a f22 throttle body and f22 tb gasket and im wondering if this could cause it. the car also has the obd2 to obd1 convert harness to a chipped po6 . i am not sure if it has any codes throwing cause my cluster doesnt work at all
Could be a vacuum leak. Check your plugs are they wet with fuel? You need to get that cluster fixed as the key could be a check engine code. Are all your sensors hooked up?
havent checked plugs but all the sensors pluged up and yea theres no power to the cluster from fuse box but the fuses are good
cant check for cel the check engine light wont work and the tps and map sensor plugs are correct cause the tps sensor plug is right behind the manifold and the maps on other side iw would be sorta hard to get them backwards. ive had a few people tell me the iat sensor can cause this can any1 verifiy this
i doubt it will cause it to run like that, i ran half of my swaps without the iat and it ran regular..it can be a clog in your fuel system somewhere. i had the same problem and that was my problem
thats what i thought cause i have had swaps and it ran fine without the iat hooked up what about the f22 throttle body on the b18 can you change them out and they run fine

what about the egr valve do you think it could cause this or any more ideals ima check on the fuel but if i feather it 2 higher rpms itll let me give it more gas and rev up fine

i was stating where the plugs where the tps plug is attached with the iacv plug behind manifold i know that the sensors are on tb
just try it. that happened to me. what year harness are you using? i'm using my stock dx harness and all those plugs are very close to each other. cuz the d-series tb faces up.
i took my throttle body off today and noticed the gasket had tore at the edge where the bolts go threw do you think this could cause the problem
im not sure but it wont hurt to fix and the iacv would not cuase it to run stupid it would just cause it to die when you first try to start it up..and like i said i had the same problem it just got worst and worst till i cleand my injectors
thats incorrect. the sensor behind the manifold is the IACV. the tps and map sensors are located on the tb. map is on top and tps is on the side. if you have those plugs switchedd your car wont stay running. the f22b tb should be the same. also, get your cluster fixed so you can get the codes...
im going to clean them and chang my fuel filter as soon as this dang snow weather passes my cars outside lol im just looking for more options to look at while im working on it
well i fixed the motor and you wont beleave waht it was lol the 10mm bolt on the alternator wasnt tight at all. i tightened it up and cleaned the gas off the plugs and it runs great now lol
