Let's talk about exhaust restriction and whp loss
A test made this summer, I think it is interesting.
Setup
Stock b18cr 96 spec
I/E/H/S300 tuned
Redline: Mendrel 2.5'' exhaust with spoon sports n1 axle back, no cat
Blue line: exactly the same as the red line but with the spoon sports n1 silencer on the muffler tail.
photo

Dynograph

Vtec is at 4400rpm, it's funny how the power curve is the same before vtec.
I could feel the power drop on my butt dyno, but damn it's quiet on the road with the silencer.
Test done back to back, about 15min between.

Maybe it was the thread title that got me...cuz when I saw it, I thought the guy was somehow gonna have this odd finding or discovery on an exhaust setup. But nope, turns out the car makes more power with less restriction. Amaaaazing!!
I think that he wanted to show that a restrictive exhaust like(apexi ws tanabe medaillon)can cost you a lot of horspower.Even if this engine was pretty stock you can see by the number that his combo worked well!
I know for a fact my WS2 sucks up about 10whp and 3-5tq. But being quiet and having bacon off my *** is worth it. At the track its dropped anyways and thats where the power is needed.
It's one thing to know less restriction means more power, it's another thing to see it. No one has ever dyno'd a before and after with the silencer on here to the best of my knowledge. Thanks for sharing

Since I've been recovering from back surgery, I sit back and count how many pointless threads get created(specifically the NA forum) on a daily basis and you're right...it does get to me. Probably more than it should. This I find one of them. Just because it has a dyno chart though changes that aparently so I'll move along..
Really? Like it is so mind boggling that you'll make more power without a silencer. "Lets talk about..." lol! Talk about what? The pretty colors on the graph?
Thanks for taking the time/money and posting some data OP.
You hit the nail on the head. When there is a lack of common sense, it will drive me crazy faster than ANYthing else. But thats enough, it's turned into more of a "why this thread pisses clean rice off" more than what the OP had intended it for.
So yes kids, with a decent flowing motor < no CAT < 2.5" manderel bent piping slamming into a silencer...you're gonna lose power.

I bought a parts that reduce noise level when traveling with my car.
I felt the power loss on the road.
When dyno tuned my car, tried the silencer to see the real power loss.
Shared it with a honda enthusiast comunity.
Getting flamed from 1 or 2 guy because ''it is oblivious'' and probably they loose their time and I waste Internet storage space ?
For sure it's oblivious, but I had never see NUMBER of it, that's why I posted it.
Hope that if someone search for a power loss using muffler sliencer he will find this thread and be happy.

O why not title this 'spoon silencer dyno test'?
Just when you think there is a good thread to read.....
another disapointment....you could've stuck a banana in your tail pipe and it would've Told us the same thing.

Thanks for posting your results Unteng.
Sure its obvious that the silencer will loose power but its cool to see actual data to back it up. Why would you people complain so much about this? Id much rather read threads like this than the same "what cams should I run" stuff.

theres nothing like a e-cutout, wen u wana daily it have it closed, u wana run open it for the run no restrictions and wen ur done close it back up and off u go. quiet wen needed and loud wen running. perfect
also
I modified the 1st post title but the name of the thread doesn't change in the forum.
Look like only mod can change thread title.
try these cut outs there awsome never had a problem. if it ever leaks ill send it back for warranty
