Default re do the gauge cluster

im going to be getting a new tacometer and speedo along with other gauges to replace the gauge cluster, im going to get a flat panel of cf and cut it to shape of the cluster housing and then cut holes to fit the gauges, my question is would anything happen if i run the car with the cluster disconected? would the ecu sense something wrong? and lastly would i be able to just splice the wireharness that plugs to the cluster for my wiring? i dont see how im going to do the speedo though since its cable. thanks

wow. good luck. i know of a friend that did this, took many moons figuring out the wiring. the tach and heat/ oil guages should not be that much of a problem, but the fuel level and speedo should give you a nice headache. for the speedo, you are either going to have to use an SIR or 92 up speedo drive to get an electronic signal. i don't know exactly how my friend did it in his CRX, but i do know that he is ghetto as hell and i don't trust his work. so i don't want to give you any of his advice, chances are he ends up being the reason why your things don't work....haha

EDIT: just do a 91 SI guage cluster or a GSR cluster, not as much work, certainly cheaper, and OEM PIMP!!

ive been driving my car around with out my cluster being wired up, i dont even think there is a line running to the cluster. the car runs fine without it, its just a pain worrying about fuel and temp. but you shouldnt have a problem. let me know how it goes, i need to wire up my jdm ef9 cluster, but first i need to figure out how to run the wires from the car to the cluster itself. hope this helps.

well i have a 91 si hatch, i just need a higher redline and speedo. i'd figure it would be cool to do it that way, plus i dont like the look of the gauge pods or gauges on the dash. i like to keep a low key. this is just and idea of a project im thinking of doing, just doing my research first. thanks
