Ok so my check engine light is always on, when I turn the key to ON it comes on, I hear the main relay click, fuel pump primes, but check engine light stays on.. crank the car and it starts and runs fine but the check engine light is on.. I go to check the CEL and nothing happens the check engine light just stays on as if the jumper is on even there.

 

Does the engine have any performance problems?

 

it seems to be running fine but i cant tell.

vtec is wired
4 wire o2 wired in

 

You most likely have a short in either the service connector or its wires from the ECU or the wires running from the ECU to the CEL in the cluster.

 

thanks, Ill look into it some more tomorrow, Im so fed up with this shell im about to junk it.

 

may be a bad ecu, i have a usdm p13 that does the same thing... not everybody can chip them properly. check with a known good ecu if possible.

 

I just tried to drive the car and its now running like total crap.. I don't know what to do.

 

Its a completely stock m/t p28 and was working perfectly before, I don't know why it would all of a sudden not work.

 

So I tried to drive the car last night and it is running like total ***, Im so lost over this stupid car.

Now it idles verry poor and turns off sometimes and when I step on the gas the car acts like it has no fuel and bogs out...

 

You check for CEL codes again? First time could have been a quirk... especially since now your car is supposedly running like ***.

I had this happen to me once. ECU threw a CEL but no code, car just ran like ***. Ended up just being a bad P72.

 

when I try checking for the cel code the check engine light just stays on solid and never flash or anything.

 

 

Why are you running a stock P28 on a SiR II motor? There is your first problem.

 

how is that a problem, its a obd1 vtec computer with a 4wire o2 sensor setting.. the stock 93 cx computer was non-vtec and 1 wire o2 sensor setup.

 

A stock P28 that Rev's to 7200 and has completely different mapping compared to the original JDM P30 that belonged on that motor and Rev'd to 8200 and had knock values.

 

ok but that has nothing to do with the CEL being on all the time and the car all of a sudden running like crap, it ran perfect for a day and then all this started.

 

You may have a bad ECU, and that ECU (in stock form) is not meant to run that motor. It may be leaning it out and you are only doing damage to it. Borrow a friends P28/P30 and see if that works. Don't just give up and sell the shell because you encourtered a little problem.

 

my friend is bringing over his p28 later on today and Ill see if that works. its not the first problem, it has had so many wiring issues since i got the shell, i think this shell had flood damage or something because all the wiring is shot.

 

Then get a new interior harnes, maybe the wiring got wet and it is starting to short things out.

 

I was thinking that but Im just so over this shell, it has been a pain in my butt since day one, Ill keep trying for a few more weeks and if I cant get it running right im just going to pull my swap back out and junk the shell and start all over again. thanks for the help.

 

What was done just prior to the problem happening? Did you check again recently for CEL codes, as mentioned?

 

Just before this happened I was running my stock Cx computer, then I wired up the vtec along with the 4 wire o2 sensor and then Installed a p28 computer, it started up perfect with no CEL light on and I left it running for 30mins and the CEL never came on so i turned it back off and then the next day all this happened.. I tried to check the CEL again and it still just stays on all the time. I gave away my stock Cx ecu so I cant put that back in but my friend is going to bring over his computer.

Re- Check your wiring.

 

Did that and all the wires where correct, I also de-pined the wires I added and still no fix.

 

Well try a new P28 and re-run your wiring then let us know how that went.
