for 1k? get nitrous. i think a wet shot to the tune of about 50hp or so would be just fine.

spend the rest of the money on new sticky tires...

or it isn't to late to buy rims and you'll enjoy the car more.

then you are essentially going to spend 1000 us dollars to go from 110whp to 115whp.

if you really want to do that.. i'd figure out which cam would produce the best flow with your asthmatic cylinder head and miserably low compression. chances are the stock one is pretty close already. but if you absolutely must go all motor sohc.. keep saving. we need to get the head and intake flowing, bump compression up to something respectable, then we'll get to figuring out a cam and setting you up with a decent exhaust. when all that is paid for and assembled, we'll get some sort of share-ware to tune the beast, then pay someone to tune it... and we should be somewhere around about 150whp.

don't take me for rude.. but the real question you should be asking yourself is 'what do i want from this car?' and the answer will not be your original question.

If you are picking up a camshaft or anything else like that, you will want tuning, too. And then it can get expensive.

Sit down and figure everything out before jumping into this and you will be much happier in the end. If the car is not lowered or anything like that (suspension upgrades) I would look into getting a nice set of coil overs and some OEM types wheels such as blades, or SI's etc.

If you're seriously looking for power on such a tight budget, I'd either be 1.) saving some $$$ and learning a lot in the meantime, or 2.) Spray it and get it tuned well.

you won't be happy with the amount of money wasted building up an NA D.

you'd be better off boosting. mileage plays little to no part in it.

D doesnt respond well (if at all) to bolt ons. unless serious cash is dropped, youll just have a loud exhaust and crappy ebay headers.

put it into suspension and tires . youll be much happier

as for boosting, my engine was boosted at 120k and still runs great after a year. go for that if youre willing to save up more and want more power.
