Painted gsr blades, want to take off the color.
So I just went and pick up 2 gsr blade today, they were painted gunmetal grey. I dont like the color and i want to make it back to stock look with no paint on it.
What would I need or what do you guys recommend for me to do this?
And about the center caps, how would I take the paint off of that? does it matter because it is plastic and not metal like the rim?

I've always used Aircraft remover.. I wasn't a fan of the spray I always bought that little tin and globed it on the rims with paint brushes.. Wear gloves!! It burns if it hits your skin.. Just glob it on the rim let it sit for ~30min and you'll see the acid eat the paint and use fine steel wool to scrape it off.. Waiting time depends on how good they were painted..
Alright thnx, but what about the center caps? These aircraft remover will eat up plastic right? so how would i get the center caps to be back to the original silver with the A, would i have to repaint the A also?
I to don't know much about sand paper. All I know is that the higher the grit number the finer the sand paper is. So 200 grit is more coarse then say 800 grit. The higher the grit makes it more fine, which will make the surface feel more smooth. So get a high grit sand paper and sand away at the centercaps. I don't know if your gonna be able to save the centercaps though. But its definitely worth a try. Sand slowly with high grit sand paper and you'll slowly reveal the original finish. Hopefully the paint didn't mess it up.
As for center caps I'd probably just ditch the ones you have and get some new ones.. You can try to sand them down.. 800 grit seems fine. Try it on one of the tabs that locks the caps in place and see if it damages it if it does then move on up to 1000 grit..

Alright, thanks for the info. I'll go pick up some sand paper wen i can. Just got me some spray on aircraft remover today though. And gnna start the rims tomorrow wen i get up. I'll post up pics.
After you get the paint stripped off you may want to consider polishing the wheels.
The stripper will leave a haze on the wheels that soap will not take away.
You may want to go get 1500 grit sand paper and wetsand the entire surface of the wheel down and then go to a 3000 grit disk so it is all uniform and smooth. then polish it with aluminum polish.

and the caps arent coming back, just paint them. If you sand some stock caps youll see the color is only on the outside and if you go just a little too far you'll wind up painting them anyways, just pry/pop the "A" off and replace it before you clear.
Hmm, im almost done with removing the paint on one of them. It looks all scratched up though. Im gnna have to sand them down. Then polish after.
