Default Thermostat Question

Hey guys I am usually posting in the Acura Integra forum but today decided to ask the CR-V crowd a quick question. I have a 91 Integra with a Honda CR-V B20B in it and was wondering what thermostat brand you guys would recommend? I was looking at the Gates brand, part #33568S it sais it is an OE replacement 180 degree thermostat. The one at the dealer is $21 so I figured maybe if I got the Gates one I could save a few bucks. I am going to be ordering the Gates timing belt component kit part # TCKWP184 and figured I would change the thermostat(while the coolant is out of it). I have heard good things about Gates but what is your guys's input? Thanks in advance.

You probably will be okay; but, personally, I still would go with OEM. None of the Hondas I owned Hondas with OEM thermostats ever went bad, I just changed them as regular maintenance.

I've never had an issue with the Gates products I've used. They're an OE supplier to many manufacturers, so I wouldn't be concerned about using the thermostat.

Ok yea I have heard only good things about Gates. Thanks guys. It will save me money too because I will not have to buy one at the dealer. I will order one from Rockauto when I get my Timing belt kit.

Yea man the Rockauto has the Gates timing belt kit for about $82 with shipping and Orielly auto parts in my city wants $175 for the same damn kit. I can get all new motor mounts for cheaper off Rockauto also so I'm going to order the timing belt kit, motor mounts, trans mount, and thermostat off Rockauto all at the same time and save.

I ordered the Gates OEM Replacement thermostat. Sais the OEM thermostat is a 180 degree thermostat. How well does the 160 degree Jackson Racing thermostat work?
