What are some things to look out for when buying a used mercedes ?
im getting a used slk230
its a 1999 automatic with about 170xxx miles
for the deal im getting i cant pass it up ...
what are some things that i should look out for when buying ?
what shop can i go to to get it checked out for free or for a low price before i get it
?
The fuel pump was just replaced if that sparks any other caution....But other than that i have yet to see the car and i am told it runs great

the price im paying isnt really relavent when the kid im getting it from doesnt know how much his car is worth lol..

Dont buy it with that many miles. You may think you are getting a good deal but the repairs alone are going to kill it

With BMW you can at least get a CPO that has a great warranty as well as the remainder of the factory maintenance program until it hits 50k (or you can extend it to 100k for more $$$). I don't think Mercedes offers a free maintenance program on used cars, or what their warranty is like. For older, higher-mileage cars it's probably about the same.

Well I purchased a winter beater 1995 C280 with 350,000km on it. the issues I have are as follows Transmission and usually that is the main issue from what i heard from MB ppl.
A small oil leak but know that MBs come with a diaper sorta thing where oil doesn't ruin you drive way. besides that the car runs like a horse. Interior wise its immaculate.

I think from the 97 E Class and all the cars released after its been a bit of a crapshoot. My sis has an 01 C320 though and hasn't had any problem
