Default Test pipe sound clips? Or high flow cat?

Anyone have any sound clips of their ITRs with the stock exhaust and a test pipe? I'm gonna be buying a header with a 2.5'' collector and will need either a test pipe or a high flow cat.

I'm leaning towards a high flow cat right now because I already have one stinky and loud car. I prefer cats over test pipes...but I'm trying to weigh my options.

I don't like the buzzing noise associated with having no cat. I know that the stock ITR exhaust has 2 resonators...so does this help? Anyone have sound clips or personal experience? I know you won't hear the buzzing from the inside of the car, but the outside might be an issue.

I was also thinking about doing a 2.5'' inlet/outlet OBX bolt on high flow cat. From my experience, OBX really isn't that great of a company, but it's just a cat...and it does have 2.5'' inlet/outlet sizing...and it's bolt on, which is nice. Anyone else have any experience with this cat?

Look no further...

Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonators I am using one as a test pipe and there it no rasp and my exhaust is very quiet for being a 2.5" free flowing header back. My car sounds just a bit louder than a newer Civic SI.

Nice. Thanks. I actually got a free test pipe with the header. So I guess when spring comes around, I'll try it out and see if its buzzy with the stock exhaust.

I'll probably do a smsp high flow cat. I think having a test piped car in time attack or autocross puts the car into a "race" class.

A quality high flow cat (like a spun cell SMSP) will offer a quieter sounding exhaust with minimal drop in exhaust flow efficiency. It's legal, its quieter, and a drop in1-2HP is marginal.

Stock ITR exhaust with 4-1 jdm header and test pipe is raspy, just a heads up.

I had a Carsound cat, Comptech 4 -1 header, short ram intake, Fireball muffler. Car sounded AMAZING like a Realtime Type R pretty much..... unfortunately it was also a contributing factor to my hearing loss I believe.

Thanks for all the replies. As far as cats go, does it work like...the less cell count, the more the flow? Or the other way around?

I see that universal HFCs from SMSP are only $100.

just get a high flow cat. Is there any dyno's proving HP loss w/ cats?

From my understanding using cats really don't affect anything much
