1998 CRV vs California Smog Test
Hello, I am having issues getting my 1998 CRV to pass the California Smog Test. It is failing ONLY in one category, the "Idle" section of the HC (PPM) reading. It is measuring at around 190, with a max of 110.
I know next to nothing about cars or engine mechanics, so elaborate and esoteric explanations are nigh useless. Any practical solution for this problem, or advice?
I've read most of the other Emissions related problems (Cat. Converter, o2 sensor, etc), but I thought i'd start a topic in case the CRV has specific known issues or whatnot in regards to the HC/Smog Test world. (Also, it passed Nevada and Georgia tests with flying colors).
Thanks in advance!
(edit/P.S. The mechanic who performed the Smog Test said off-hand that he'd have to guess it was the Catalytic Converter, which he said will run me upwards of 1600-2000$, which is sadly not in my current budget... So i chose to research elsewhere and come up with other potential solutions)
