92 Hatch won't start, clicking from fuse area
Okay I swapped in a new transmission and this car has been sitting for a couple of years. I got everything hooked back up and tried to jump the battery but all I get is a series of clickling noises coming from the fuse area under the dash board on the drivers side. The dash lights come on and the car makes the dinging noise, but when I go to start it, it just clicks. Also the dash lights get really dim and the headlights from the car that is jumping it get really dim when I try to start.
The things I need to try to test obviously are the battery, the grounds, and the starter. Anyone have any other advice?

Damn the junkyard wants 40 for a battery and 50 for a starter. So after tax and gas 100 bucks for both, on a poke and hope deal. Advice please save me from throwing away money...lol
So yea I probably just didn't connect a ground, or at least I hope...
get some rest man, inhaling those much fumes is not healthy
but i'd check your transmission ground, thermostat ground, have the battery tested at your auto parts store, and dont jump to buy new starter yet, have it tested if you feel like taking it off

It did end up being the battery. Got one from the junkyard and finally figured out the starting order and she fired right up. Now she won't move because the axle will not rotate in the knuckle for whatever reason. So the left wheel is jammed and when you go to put it in gear it makes a loud pop and the car dies because the axles can't rotate. I know it isn't the bearing cause I just put it back on the car and was kind of worried when the wheel wouldn't move with the hub nut tightened down.
Looks like I'll be replacing the knuckle on a snow covered ground cause now I can't get it in the garage unless I get wheel dollies. FML lol

damn man 40 bux for a battery at a parts yard! I would of payed an extra 20 bux and got one at sears or somthin. but glad you found the source of the problem.
I agree that 40 is expensive. On second thought, maybe my axle is bent because it was on the side of my last car that my brother wrecked and the brake disc was busted off, wheel bearing shot, and the steering knuckle was bent. I think the axle is bent and not able to clear the knuckle, because the knuckle was fine when I last drove the car.
So I have a spare axle. Do you guys think that would fix my problem? Or is it probably the knuckle is just rusted from sitting for a few years. It seems like on the backside of the knuckle, where the front of the axle that has an indented lip fits in there, is causing the problem. So I'll try the axle and if that ain't it it's a new knuckle I guess.

Well the axle was swapped from the wrecked Del Sol onto this hatch. I mean did the knuckle really rust that much or will my gut feeling be correct, the axle is bent and it won't rotate in the knuckle. Anyone can confirm my fear so I can sleep tonight? lol
