buy type r?
k i have a '01 integra gsr w/about 19,000 miles on it, but i was considering selling my gsr to buy a type r with about 50,000 miles on it for the price of around 18,000 w/an aem cold air intake, is this a good idea or would i be better off to stay with my gsr with less miles??? please post some pro's and con's, and any opinions about turboing a type r, thanks in advance.
not to offend you in any way or not that this comment pertains to you but, in seattle a girl that lived in my city bought an R, put on altezza's, some 18" focal rims, and put on a ghetto *** brospeed muffler (not sure what brand muffler). i wanted to crack her in the head. too bad a few months later i heard she was racing a mustang, down shifted to 2nd while going 90, dropped her tranny, spun outta control and totaled the car. not saying that you would do something like that, but you should know what you're buying before selling your gsr for an R. i honestly think that people who own R's are REAL car enthusiasts and not just someone buying one just because they tell their friends they have an R.

k, well i have always loved the type r's and i dont plan to rice it out and screw it up like her, im more into just the jdm front end conversion and not altezzas and gay *** high wings. I would take good care of any car i would own, especially the type r.
look harder for an ITR with a lot less miles...they are not that hard to find and you will be better off in the long run....why sell your 01gsr with so few miles? There is so much you can do with a gsr. My advice is that if you really want a ITR look hard and carefully and don't buy until you know everything about the R....

EDIT: I said PY ITR because they sell Black and White GSR's... just can't get a PY GSR.

yah, well i know who is the selling the type r, so i know everything about it and the condition it is in, and the color is championship white, which does not come on regular integras either, and i do like that color too.
I can get you a 2000 NBP ITR less than 30k mi and for around $17,000. IM me with your location if you are interested. And this car only sells to enthuasiest that autox/track the ITR.

well i live in az, and only lookin to spend around 18,00 or so on it, and that is why i was considering the one i found
Too bad...this car is located some...hmm 2000+ miles from Arizona.
hm that sucks, well i still might be considering the one around 17,500 in my town, just not sure..., but i really like the type r, yet i think it might be dumb of me to sell my gsr with much lower miles...
Since everyone here is talking about my car I will chime in. My car has a little more than an AEM intake (SMS header, custom 2.5" exhaust, Skunk2 stage 1 cams/gears, VAFC, chipped P28, fully dyno tuned; all done in the last 2 weeks) and it has been maintained with the greatest of care. Everything placed on the car was done so with a great amount of research and done by a mechanic that worked on cars for RealTime. The price would be considerably cheaper bone stock (i have all stock parts).
I just see the way that your car is headed (XxIntegraGurliexX) and figured this car would be the car for you. Not to try and be a salesman here, but the suspension, brakes, engine, transmission , interior, and exterior combination make the Type R the best of the Integra lineup (for the enthusiest). It would be quite a lot of money to put into the GSR to get it to what the Type R is stock (I know this is beaten to death). I feel this everytime I get into my car after sitting in the GSR.
Just trying to tell you (XxIntegraGurliexX), not being condecending in any way, a Type R is plenty of car for someone just starting out, and it is a great platform to change things from as you become more and more comfortable with the car's characteristics. I, personally, feel it is quite a big step forward from a GSR and would be the direction I would choose if i was in your shoes. If you want a ride let me know I am always up in the area.

For all those who would care to know... selling the Type R to go with a 1994 FD3S Rx7. Man I love the Type R but not as much as I like 50/50 weight distribution, rear wheel drive, and boost. Still maintaining that 4 wheel double wishbone suspension.
I have a 96 GSR with 45 thousand miles, i want to get an R as well. I do want it because i would like to auto x and race it. I just need some more $$. I live in AZ too, if you get, dont forget to let me drive it
. I like the GS-R and thought about keeping it and maybe putting a turbo? or getting a b20 block with some other crazy headwork... Even though that would make more power, the turbo is still
for road race use, within a reasonable budget. Its not even worth it to upgrade a GS-R because if you do, the cost would far surpass the cost of a used ITR. Some examples of some big costs, LSD, better brakes, various chasis reinforcement bars, factory p&p head, other little things that just make it all woth while. If i had that much money, i would sell the GS-R in a heartbeat, but if your not interested in using the R for its purpose, keep the GS-R. If you plan to drag race, keep the GS-R. I have no problem w/drag racing, its just that ITR's are made for the twisties. Thats where they belong. You dont road race funny cars do you? I didnt think so. I dont want to **** anyone off, but thats just my opinion. Theres nothing wrong w/doing it to get times etc, but it was built for turning the rest of the time
Buy it. You wont regret it, and even though i dont have one, i know now its worth it.

Either way, depends on who buys it what they want. You can go for a ride and see for yourself. I will for sure take the car back to stock if you dont want it, sell the parts and then the car for a little less. I can get more for it that way. But you can decide....it all depends
Whoa... only took me a year and like 3000hrs on Honda-Tech to get 100 posts
