What clutch are you using for your R?
I was wondering what people are running and have experience with. I am still on the stock clutch but after some road racing and drag racing I feel it on its end in the near. Once it gets some abuse and heats up it feels like it sticks basically just slipping so time to start looking for a new setup that can take some abuse. I figure the absolute MOST torque my motor would ever make is 200FT LBS which is basically a Stage 1 maybe Stage 2 for most companies. So lets hear it, what clutch and flywheel combo are you running?
if you get to 200ft/lb you would be boosted
what tires you run is the real question, if it's anything sticky get the exedy stage 2.
if it stays NA the exedy stage 1 is a beefed up oem clutch that can take more abuse

The oem works great for me. My ITR has the OEM one. My B18C-R swapped EM1 (its my gf's now) has a stage 1 exedy.
I like the feel of the OEM better. It's smoother and lighter.
The stage 1 is totally fine unless you're going F.I. Anything above that is overkill.
I use a hyper single on my S2000 (speaking of overkill). I got an awesome deal on it and with all the track time the car sees, it seemed worth it. I like the clutch and it's fun, but I'm hindsight, I shoulda left the 27k mile oem one in there lol.

Real interesting info here, I see a lot love the Exedy Stage 1 but then having parts crack after 20,000km!? Maybe its one in a million but that worries me.
yeah when i researched about clutches before i got the exedy . alot of people like that clutch alot so i got me one too. and it broke soo. i dont know.
but so far my competition clutch is holding up good. less part to break off.

The Toda High-Power clutch kit may be pricey; but it has worked flawlessly for 5 years on a 230+whp track car. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.
Yeah I just looked up prices... like $1200-1300 for the combo. Like you said though sometimes you get what you pay for, I don't doubt that it is one of the finest contructed setups for these motors. I'm not that ballin though.
The oem clutch is fantasic it is basically an exedy stage 1.. exedy does make our oem clutch btw and i would def. trust their products, its a lot of drivers that I dont trust and frankly beat the **** out of their cars which is making a lot of clutches fail.
ohh and btw I have always run an OEM R clutch in my cars.

i can tell by looking at that what the cause was. lots of hard dropped shifts probably on grabby tires. if you're beating on parts hard 20k miles really isn't bad. no standard clutch can take that kind of abuse. solid discs and or twins would be better suited for this

the exedy 1 has more pressure, stronger springs and a slightly heavier gauge of metal used.
the exedy oem is really really close to the oem fuji disc and plate, the fuji uses a superior TB though
OEM is definately out of the question, great for street driving and banging gears but it will NOT hold up to racing very long. Drag racing is extremely hard on your clutch but its wear out your clutch or break something involving your transmission. Something with better clamping force/grip is ideal. Once they get hot its like when your brakes are fading. It feels mushy and your car feels slow. What is the torque rating for the Exedy Stage 1? I couldnt for the life of me find it on their website.
