Default JB weld on a cracked block?

Has anyone ever tried using JB weld on a cracked block where the oil pressure sensor screws into the block? If so, did it work, how long did it last?

Take it to a shop that can do aluminum welding and have it welded, it will save you time money and headaches

yes aluminum can be welded and i would recommend this first.. i would not use jb weld on anything that's gonna have pressurized fluids in it.

please pm me when you sell this car so I can avoid the hell out of it. never jb weld anything. there is a reason it is dirt cheap (it doesnt do much, especially around pressurized oil).

In this situation, I agree. Not a good idea.

But JB Weld does have it's place and has work well for many peolpe in certain instances.

Don't do it...there's things you can half-***...and things you most definitely shouldn't.

This would be one of those you shouldn't.

Wait...so is it cracked around the threads? You're going to need welding and a helicoil if it is...could you post pictures or at least verify if it's cracked at the threads or not?

JB weld wont work well here. I've patched up lots of single cylinder briggs & stratton engines with it though after a rod went through the side, always works great, they use splash lubrication though, so no oil pressure.

unless your talking about a non honda engine you'd probably be the only one with a non aluminum block.

Honda engine blocks, and heads are Aluminum.
Also I agree with the others, JB weld on and engine is asking for more trouble than its worth. Just get it welded.

jb weld can be used safely on cracked tranny housings, but typically only the dry part of it (the clutch bell housing) same would go here. I wouldn't jb weld it.

if there is nothing broke off in the threaded hole, no need for helicoil. weld it and re-tap it is all.

Yeah that's why I'm waiting for a picture..."slight" cracks in the block are rare...usually it's pretty brutal.
