JB weld on a cracked block?
Has anyone ever tried using JB weld on a cracked block where the oil pressure sensor screws into the block? If so, did it work, how long did it last?

Re: JB weld
Take it to a shop that can do aluminum welding and have it welded, it will save you time money and headaches

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
yes aluminum can be welded and i would recommend this first.. i would not use jb weld on anything that's gonna have pressurized fluids in it.

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
please pm me when you sell this car so I can avoid the hell out of it. never jb weld anything. there is a reason it is dirt cheap (it doesnt do much, especially around pressurized oil).

But JB Weld does have it's place and has work well for many peolpe in certain instances. |
Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
Don't do it...there's things you can half-ass...and things you most definitely shouldn't.
This would be one of those you shouldn't. |

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
This reminds me of my friend using JB to fix his auto timing belt tensioner on his H22A... I lol'd

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
Just have it welded, some I Know had this problem, shop (speedfactory) fixed it for 20 bucks.
JB weld is great, just not in this area. |
Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
Wait...so is it cracked around the threads? You're going to need welding and a helicoil if it is...could you post pictures or at least verify if it's cracked at the threads or not?

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
JB weld wont work well here. I've patched up lots of single cylinder briggs & stratton engines with it though after a rod went through the side, always works great, they use splash lubrication though, so no oil pressure.

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
Don't use jb weld there get it fixed right. Don't get me rong jb weld is good but its good for certain things. Not fixing cracked blockes even if it only where the oil press sensor is lol

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
unless your talking about a non honda engine you'd probably be the only one with a non aluminum block.

Also I agree with the others, JB weld on and engine is asking for more trouble than its worth. Just get it welded. |
Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
jb weld can be used safely on cracked tranny housings, but typically only the dry part of it (the clutch bell housing) same would go here. I wouldn't jb weld it.

Re: JB weld on a cracked block?
Yeah that's why I'm waiting for a picture..."slight" cracks in the block are rare...usually it's pretty brutal.
