Icon2 Mini Me build (d16a6/y8)

Alright, so I bought my first Honda for less than $1k. 88 Honda Civic DX sedan with a A6 swap. I bankrolled hardddd

Even though I didnt pay much for the car, the amount of money ive put into it so far has made this POS my daily. Im new to Hondas so im not too sure on how this will end up but ive been doing my research and this is what I have so far.

In my possession I have...
d16y8 head (port&polished)
d16z6 head gasket
ARP head studs
Gates y8 timing belt & water pump
NGK plugs & wires

*Now im lost...
Ive been told many different things about this swap. Ive been told I can go to obd1 or I can stick with obd0. Im a college student and dont have money to throw around so I need to spend the least amount possible. To stay OBD0, wouldnt i just put it all together, wire a RPM switch or Vtec controller, and then tune? Do I need a y8 dizzy or can I just keep my a6?? SO MANY QUESTIONS!
Since ive been researching, i have found nothing on OBD0 and A6 to Y8 conversions. This has been one of the most helpful websites thus far so im sure someone on here can help me out. Thanks a bunch.

I used both of those.
Still doesn't answer my question abt obd0
The Z6 swap mentions that everything bolts on fine but ive read some places that the A6 dizzy doesn't line up right. Even if it doesn't line up right, is the connection still reliable?

Really what's your goal? To have a but more power and dependability? Then keep it obd0, your dizzy will bolt up fine to the y8 head and use a rpm switch. It will run but never live up to it's full potential. Want a reliable, more powerful car? Convert to OBD1 run a chipped p28 with adapter harness with a Y8 basemap and use any 92-00 civic distributor (minus the Z6 and d15z1) with an adapter harness. I ran a z6 in my CRX with a PR3 OBD0 for 2 years with no problem other than it ran a bit rich. It's up to your short and long term goals.

Awesome thats what I was looking for.
I'm going for reliability at this point. This is my first project car which (in a twist of fate) ended up becoming my daily driver. After the dizzy and ECU, can I still use the A6 intake manifold or would it be easier to just get a Y8 intake?
I never realized how much Hondas are like really advanced Legos for grown ups.

activating VTEC can be done a few different ways. MSD makes an RPM activated switch you can use (shift lights also contain one of these and I have seen people use them), you can get a Vtec controller such as Apexi, Feilds, Etc... you can run a PR3 or PW0 ECU (have to add another o2 sensor or get the ECU chipped to remove BOTH o2 sensors), or you can find a ECU with a 1 wire vtec program. Like a old Zydyne unit

You can use your IM, But a Y8 would flow better. Especially with the Y8 head

haven't posted up here in a while. the stock A6 has been nice but im ready to finish this project. im about to start the swap. the only thing i need to decide on now is what to do with the bottom end. Anyone have any ideas? i think this thing needs to go off to the machine shop
ive been told dome pistons?? wouldnt that be bad with raised compression?

if u were to run dome pistons which i think the main oem option would be the p29's u would have a pretty high comp ratio, but i would clay the block make sure ur piston to valve clearance was good i did the same thing a6 bottom with a vtec head was a z6 with the pm6 pistons and z6 head and a stage 2 cam i had tons of clearance. im actually planning to put the p29's in my d16z6 its not really a bad idea most poeple say all motor d16's are **** but back in the day my bro was blowin teggys outta the water in his stock 90 crx si with just a cold air intake
