coolant gauge not working??????wtf

Default coolant gauge not working??????wtf

So im kinda of lost guys , i have a 1991 ef hatch, my coolant gauge simply does not work, i checked the wire that goes on the side of the head, i also checked all my fuses they seem fine! Could there be something blown in the damn cluster? plz help im lost as hell. the needle sits way below the C!!!

Could be something in the cluster is broke.... or maybe the wire Leading to the coolent Sensor is ripped some where or shorted out...

sweet deal i reckon i should trace the wire all the way i reckon? and what in the cluster can break? being there are no fuses etc in the actual cluster correct?

The circut boards in the cluster can be burned up (they will look all brown if battery has been sparked) and sometimes the gauges can to all the way up and stay there.

^^^ bingo. A fried circut in the cluster or the gauge it self in the cluster could be messed up. And yes trace the wire and look for shorts or brakes in the wire. Also. The coolent sensor its self on the head could be bad....

same thing with 91 hatch. Was working before i changed the trans & ripped it during installation. Got soldered back on but still dont work inside. Im going to take this advice & follow the wire & change out the sensor itself. Good advice.
