Default H22 Feels sluggish

OK, after a dyno tune the car feels sluggish.

Setup
JDM h22
ported head, flat valves, s2 valvetrain, s2p1cams (degreed using max lift), s2 gears
black trax intake mani
70-65mm tb
hytec rep header

Car made poor power 198whp, 156 tq on a dyno jet.

A/F is 12.2 at WOT at 4k and tapers to 12.0 at 8k.

If I remember right the car is running 31* timing.

Vtec is set at 5600.

I can email the file if anyone wants to look at it.

Timing was checked and its right on.

Ideas?

Before the header and intake mani the car ran really well and loved to rev now above 6k or so it just feels like it is fighting to make power.

The tuner did not move them. They were set to max lift before the dyno session took place.

I'm not familiar with the process. Ill have to check the cam gear settings to see where they are.

The person who did the cam degree said that the car should make good power where they sit.

leaning it out a point will pick up some power.
did it stop making more power when adding more timing?

How can you say that without even knowing what kind of fuel he is on?

Im running good ole pump gas.

Unusual: according to the tuner it did not pick up any power adding timing or fuel.

it should pick up power pulling a bit of fuel. peak power for N/A setups running pump gas is almost always in the low 13:1. It can go as high as 13.7:1 like mentioned however i've never seen it that high on an import.

not familiar with your intake manifold or header but maybe they are tuned towards midrange power and start to run out of breathing room in the upper rpm.

did you check the camgear settings? if so what are they?

12.2:1 is prolly a little rich but its not near enough to hurt power. stock and mild H's like to see 12.5-12.8:1ish wot

how much timing?

He posted this on PP.com as well.

The cams were degree'd for this tune but no adjustments were made. Adjusting the cams should fix this "sluggishness" you feel above 6k.

yea i dont think people realize how little difference fueling between high 11's to mid 13's AFR will do for power on a NA motor

he said the timing was 31* and thats about right if its table timing.

and just curious, what LMA's are you using? Keep an eye on your retainers.

Found this. The skunk2 quick cam settings are 0*/4* and this guy made great power with it.

I am using the newer spring type LMA's. I checked the retainers and VT this last time the car was down. Everything looked good....so far.
