'90 CRX Si - What's it worth?
I'm thinking about buying a 90 CRX Si, but am wondering about what is a fair price? I'm in Phoenix and CRX's are pricey around here. Most of them are beat to hell too.
Here is what I'm looking at:
'90 CRX Si 5spd. 139k miles.
Paint is decent. It is missing the trim peices behind the windows on the doors. A couple minor dings. New exhaust and cat. New alternator, 02 sensor, half shafts, plugs, wires, tires, wheels, timing belt, water pump, among other stuff.
The owner has receipts for everything going back to '05.
Drivers seat is torn in the usual area.
The heater / AC controls are banged up from a previous stereo theft, but all still works. AC works fine.
The sunroof does not work.
Car runs and drives great. It is stock except strut towers and a CAI.
It is clean underneath too. Nothing banged up and no rust.
Thoughts?

I like seeing the mountains not a brown haze, and not having to ref my car lol.

Sounds like a good deal crx si's are getting hard to find.
I've seen some in similar shape for $2000 or so, but they all have 200k or more on the clock. The few I've checked out for less than that were just beat up bad. I've come across a couple that looked nice for less money, but they were all sold by the time I called, and that was within 24 hours of them posting the listing. It's a tough market right now. Nice ones are mostly priced way to high and the sellers are not willing to budge on the price because they could care less if the car sells or not.
I've looked in LA and have seen a few come along that are a few hundred cheaper, but I'm not willing to buy unless I thoroughly check the car out and I don't want to waste my time if it doesn't pan out. I guess it comes down to the fact that I'm probably going to pay a few hundred more for this car, but at least I have the peace of mind that it is mechanically very sound. The guy is 50. He has detailed invoices for all the work done to it with dates and mileage. All the work is pretty recent.
I just wanted to get a general feel for what CRX's in similar shape go for in different areas. i see what people ask, but I'd like to know what they are actually offered.

why would our opinion count?
you are asking a question that only you can answer. Like the statements above, search cl through other states. For god sakes even ebay sells cars.
this isnt your only option

I think its all up to the seller and what your willing to pay. 88-91 CRXs and Civics are not valued high by KBB or Edmunds, so if you go by whats it worth, $1,200 would be fair. But what its worth to the current owner, or you, is most likely a lot more.
If he said $2,600 and won't budge, and you think it's worth it, get it. I recently paid that much for a 89 DX Sedan that I felt was worth it.
