My Brother Drove my Car and tryed to be nice by putting oil in it and accidently left the cap off, Now my engine sounds like its clicking or somthing like metal hitting another metal HELP!!

 

put the cap back on.

 

Fill it back up with oil

 

I did replace cap and add oil. Its still making that noise what could it be? Lifters, bearings, the crank got bent? anyone know i need to figure this out asap

 

Okay i have the valve cover off, The things on top of the valve springs are loose, Not sure what they are called but they seem to be on top of the springs then when the cam moves it pushes it down and i can not tighten them is this what could be doing it

 

take it to a mechanic..dont try to fix it if u dont know what the parts are, or how they operate

 

Dont have the money for it so do you know what they are called.

 

it looks simple enough, Get the cams tdc then remove cames, Then compress springs take off and replace, i need to know the part name...

they are called rockers. i think thats what u are referring to. sounds like u need a valve adjustment.....Go here

yea sounds like u need a valve adj. jus make sure u do it when the engine has had 24hrs of non operation before u do it

 

This is a must? becouse its 20 degrees here and that post you are having me look says the engine is below 100 degrees and it def is

 

sounds like your gonna do more harm then good. save your paychecks and take it to a mechanic. or have someone that knows what theyre doing help you at least. not your brother tho lol cause he did leave the oil cap off

 

dude dnt touch it there supposed to be a lil loose..ITS CALLED CLEARANCE!

 

there shouldnt be hella clearance though. not to the point where they are clicking loudly

 

i am mechanicly inclined i just have never messed with valves and **** i think ill be fine, I Have my feeler gauge and the valves clearance was .003 intaKE and EXHUAST .0025 I know thats not was its supposed to be, clerance for b18a1 is .006 and .007. Thanks for that doubt though. Oh and i don't have much cash i lost my job a few days ago

well you didnt know "those things" were called rocker arms. that told me you didnt really have much wrench time into this car. with 45 posts i assumed your pretty new this kinda stuff as well

 

did you blow the motor yet? i read your double post where you mentioned it died after it started knocking and pinging...
