what tranny should i put on my b20?
I liked the ls trans myself with my turbo set up. Ls is taller gears. Then gsr, b16 then itr if I remember correctly. If it was v tec I would say gsr but the b 20 wont rev as high

LS is waaaaay long, especially if you're revving over 7k. Many people like it for boosted though. You'll hate B16 on boost. IMO GSR is probably a good tradeoff but don't listen to me, I don't have a boosted B20. If you go LS, you'll probably need a diff because they're easy to blow up.
When I had my b20 in the teg and the hb I had it mated to a jdm itr tranny. It would have sucked for turbo. With all the torque it went through the gears quick. I topped out at 152. In 5th gear at 7000rpm I was runnin 148. Off the line and through 4th it was very quick. Would take supercharged h22 ludes, itr and gsr swapped tegs and hatches. Even took a ls teg with a direct port of like 150 shot.
I say if your goin to run turbo go ls maybe gsr no lower though

The purpose of the car (DD, track/drag use, etc.), will be a determining factor of what to choose. What will the car be used for?
Me personally, would do a GS-R tranny with an LS fifth gear for highway use. Anything above an LS-like redline (7k), IMO, needs shorter gearing than the LS's long 4.26:1 final drive ratio, even for a turbo application, but that's just me. The GS-R seems to be a good median point between the other three (LS, B16 & ITR), especially in overall acceleration "feel", while at the same time, not overdoing it with long gearing.
I had a 4.78:1 JDM ITR tranny in my 445 whp DA, and even with a 9K redline, it sucked at the dragstrip shifting into 5th. And hovering around 4k RPM @ 70 mph on the highway sucked as well.
Let s know what you plan to do with the car.

I have a GSR trans in mine now and will be trying out a LS soon. I would love too see what a LS trans with the GSR final drive would feel like. The GSR is nice though, but I would like more gear for top end without having to rev higher than 8500.
If your going for track times and acceleration, b16 trans hands down. Its a proven fact.
If your a daily driver then porsonally I'd go with a gsr tranny.
If your a old or a mom then go with a ls tranny.
But hey thats just my two cents, it depens on what you want. Im running a b16 in my setup and love it. At 70mph im taching 3800rpm.... a ls tranny is doing 70mph @ 3000rpm.

I'm currently using a GSR tranny with a LS 5th. the 1st-2nd gear from a hydro LS and GSR tranny are the same. the difference is the 4.400 final drive and of course 3rd-5th.I would NEVER go B16 for a turbo app. I already have traction problems and I think for a B20 setup, it will be worst, so with that in mind I think the happy medium would be a GSR tranny. I am speaking on this as a "weekend warrior" type car.

really though, get an aftermarket lsd (mfactory, quaife..) for turbo power and any amount of track or hard street use it will be to your benefit

Your traction problems are because of your heavy foot haha what tires are you running? I can hold traction in second gear all day on the street with radials. No traction bar yet either.
